i finally got the distributer broke free from the block on my 317 lincoln after 8 months of despair and a gallon or 2 of kroil . my question . would anti-sieze on the stem on reinstalation prevent this from happening again ?
Yes,anti-siexe. But it helps a lot too clean both dist. housing an the hole it goes back in. Time and wet, locks dist. in place.< Same for nearly all enguines oupss fat fingers n old
Anti Seize is gritty and I would not want that getting into the main or rod bearings. Anything will get stuck after a long time of being in the same place. With regular tune ups and resetting the timing as needed will keep it from seizing, also if it is stored out of the elements then that will also help immensely.
Maybe this? Food Grade Anti-Seize: 8 oz Container Size, Brush-Top Can, Non-Metallic, Molybdenum, LB 8014
Not all anti-seize is gritty, and you shouldn't smear enough on the distributor housing that you need to worry about it getting anywhere else. A little dab will do ya...
