A couple of questions for you guys. Anyone know what years the buttons were on the Lincoln doors-I'm gusiing the 40's but I cant find out for sure. I would like to know before I put up a parts wanted ad.

The second, and more complicted, question is how close are the modern truck frames dimensionally to those found under a 5 window. I was thinking about building a bike/parts hauler/tow vehicle and I am wndering how much work it will be to slap the body on a 90's chassis. I would never be able to open the hood out of the embarassment of having a mouse underneath, but if I can get past that, it may be my next project. I know I can box the original and put a stub on it etc etc, but if I do all that I may as well build something cool like cherry out the 55 meat wagon I have.
Thanks from a FNG who has been on the HAMB for awhile but just doesn't see the need to post to make my status change or to offer a repeat of previously presented info.

I believe the push button door openers were used in the '39-'42 range of Lincolns. I have a friend with an original '41 Zephyr coupe that has them. I also recall him telling me they were an option for one or more years.

  3. 46-48 Lincoln Continentals have them, may have ben available on 49-51 Lincolns

Can't help ya with the buttons, but what's so wrong with a chevy in a chevy? Would it just be too reliable, fast, & cheap? That's not all bad ya know.

There's a ton of threads about putting those trucks on S10 chassis if you dig around. Each one filled with controversy, but good technical details. Good luck with that cool ole truck.

Thanks for the leads. You kind of confirmed an earlier fear - that being that the way to do it was on an S-10. Nothing against those, but towing a car trailer behind one kind of sketches me out. Not that a car should ever be on a trailer, but in my wallet compomised state they dont always run when I get em, or in the case of my 55 Hearse, they don't always stop.

I have a pair (re-pops) that luckystiff was selling a while back. They're beautiful. I bought them for a '50 Chevy I was doing. That's gone by the way-side.
Just tonight I saw a '40 Merc in R&C that had 'em. I decided at that point I am going to use 'em on my '41 Plymouth that I just bought.

There's a couple original pairs on Ebay right now for $199. and $299.
