My dad and I have been working on a Model T project and we're running a 40s Lincoln Overdrive. Has anyone ever adapted these Transmissions to a Ford column shift cars.

I don't have any actual pictures of the actual transmission but this is what it looks like

  4. It’s a side shift

should be simple to shift on the column.

They're a little different than a Ford side shift and we're trying to put it in a Model a ch***is and it's a very tight space

I didnt do anything special. Made a new trans crossmember. Hooked up the trans and adjusted the connecting rods.

Obviously had to shorten the driveshaft and torque tube.

Yeah I know that we have to shorten the torque tube. How long is the wheelbase on your car

Lol. I've heard the song. The only bad thing is that we're not running a Lincoln engine

  14. One of those popped up a while back on FB. Almost grabbed it. Then ended up with a 51 merc bell and a ford OD top loader.

I put one in a '40 coupe. 13" taken from the driveshaft & torque tube.
A little bit of fussin', worked well.

I guess they're right that you learn something every day, I never knew that Lincoln had a closed drive line overdrive. Now I wonder if it would bolt to a Ford top loader closed drive transmission. Looking at the back of the case I'm guessing it probably won't but interesting if it would.

You cannot. Without modifications to the transmission housing and they're are closed Drive. The 1949-50 Mercury had the same transmission but with a open Drive

That looks cool and that would work but the only problem with a Model T is it's a smaller car and the shifter will be over towards the driver more and that's why I want to use a column shift instead of in the floor

We already have a adapter for the Lincoln transmission. We are running a y block Ford

  25. Yep. This one was born behind a Y

We don't have a original manual bell housing for a Y block and we already have all the parts that we need to use the Lincoln transmission besides the linkage and the hydraulic stuff for the clutch and a solenoid
