    Hello

I’ve installed Lincoln push*****ons on my shoebox 50 coupe. All the other 1950 door mechanisms have been retained but the locks removed.
The spring in the*****on is quite firm and I may replace with a softer spring. The issue I’m having is the force to push it is high and the door doesn’t pop. No handle obviously.
Did Lincoln have something to push the door outwards?
    Thanks

IMG_1957.jpeg I have no idea what Lincoln did to make them pop open but a lot of folks put springs on the lower corners of the doors after shaving the door handles to make the doors pop open. They also make a pin style of popper that you can drill into the jamb to make it open. I had shaved handles on my ‘51 and didn’t need any poppers on mine for some reason but I can tell you from experience that the fit and finish of the Shoebox Fords are far from perfect so each one has its quirks.

From my experience on the shaved door handle type cars. I have put the pin type poppers in the actual A pillar about where the dome light switch is and it gives it very good leverage. Those pictured above are basically useless. Use the type that have the steel body with the double jam nuts.

Scroll through is door components. I believe what you're looking for is listed as spring****embly, door opener.

Lincolns with push*****on doors have a separate door popper device from the factory. (One way to distinguish a 1940 from a 1941 Continental since otherwise they appear identical.) From experience, and IIRC, once you push the*****on, the lock should release enough to let the door open very slightly, just enough to get your finger under the edge of the slightly opened door. Pull gently while pushing the door*****on again and it will open. Of course installing adequate door poppers will let the door open completely with the first push.

In the '60s I used 1/2 a valve spring to pop the doors on my '53 stude coupe with electric door push*****ons.

I have Lincoln push*****ons in the doors of my 56 Holiday 98 coupe and I don't have any poppers on them. I'm able to simply grab the top of the window channel and pull the door open.

Nice work with the installation on them. Recessing the*****on is a nice look

If you have new door gaskets no poppers are necessary.
