I came across a mid 50's Ford truck with a Y-block. I didn't notice the badge number (F-5, F-4 etc.), but it has the big 6 bolt dual wheels. The exhaust has a top front crossover pipe and I read sometime that the Lincoln engine usually had rams horn exhaust manifolds. Is there a quick way to tell a Lincoln engine from a p***enger engine without s****ing around for numbers and such? Something simple like the distance between exhaust manifold bolts, etc. It seems quite possible to me that someone changed from the original engine over the years and I'd like to know what this one is.
The length of the Lincoln valve cover is roughly 18 3/4 end to end on top. 20 1/2 measuring the flange that sits on the head.
The bolts on the exhaust manifold on a ford y re all in a line and on the lincoln y the 2 end bolts sit higher. Pretty easy way to tell.
