Posting this one for a friend of mine with no computer.
He wants to know if anybody who has bought aftermarket Lincoln Zephyr Gears has had good luck with them. I know that Reds and Macs sell them but are they good? Where are they made? If you guys could give some first hand feedback I will pass it along to my friend.
    Thanks

Mine are originals + one NOS input gear I found when I worked in a old transmission parts warehouse. the old USA made ones are out there to be found if you know the part # and what they look like.

  4. Vern Tardel has a good early trannie book out...just thought I would plug it...I'm going with later 46-48 car trans guts in a 42-51 3 speed truck floor shift truck case...

The early ford store may have an opinion since they rebuild 39 trans.

Thanks guys. I would still like to hear from somebody who has bought and is using repro gears. Good or bad results.

If I recall correctly (and a lot of times I don't) it seems like the repos were available from Speedway, Reds and a few other places. This would be about 6-8 years ago. I think they were getting somewhere around $600 for the sets. And then all of a sudden they weren't available any longer. I believe they were being made off shore and there was a problem with the hardening process so anybody who was buying them was the test pilot. Hopefully somebody who had a problem with them will chime in but I can just imagine the mess and expense of having a new set of tranny gears let go.

If they are available again from the same suppliers they must have corrected the problem. But once you lose a customer due to a design or engineering problem it's tough to get them back.
