I just found out about it and figured I'd post it here on the HAMB - little did I know it had been up here since last night. That really ****s. Nobody around my neck of the woods has even heard of him, so I can't even talk about it.

****, today all you get is cookie-cutter nonsense that was created on a computer. True musical talent and innovation is disappearing quick.

  5. This is a bummer.
I can honestly say he put on the LOUDEST show I have ever been to in my life.....

It might take awhile now before I can listen to "Run Chicken Run" again......

I don't even know what to say. Link Wray is one of my all time favorites. I'm glad I saw him perform. A genius, in my opinion. I'm pratically speechless.

    :( :( :( :( :(

My user name has a different meaning for me today...

I have seen Link play every show in Los Angeles for the last ten years. Many many times. And will have to say the best show I have ever seen ever was in Hollywood with Blazin Haley opening. Link was pissed off at the sound guy something bad, Then he blew his amp and was more pissed. The guys from blazin haley brought out their amp and Link continued to argue with the sound guy..He started and stopped "rumble" about twenty times. half the crowd cleared out. Finally he told the sound guy to turn the monitors all the way up and get the **** out of the sound room. So there it was, Link Wray playing his frickin guitar as loud as he could in this semi small club. By far the best way to listen to Link...As loud as possible. He rocks and will be greatly missed especially by me.....RIP LINK

You know why Link Wray's p***ing didn't make the news in America? Because American's don't give a **** about their Rock 'n' Roll heritage, the Japanese and Europeans care more.
Americans are preoccupied with the Black and White Minstrel show that is rap, **** that.

We do a cover of Dinosaur, now it will mean more when those rumbling first chords come on.

Our guitarist, Aaron, did a radio show dedicated to Link Wray on November 9th not realizing that he'd p***ed away on the 5th.

RIP Wray, I'm glad I got to see you at least once.

The HAMB really aced this story...The USA finally heard of his death on Monday...news stories about his death were common.

XM Radio's "Matt The Cat" (Fifties on Five) started last nites show with a Link Wray "twin -spin"...."Jack The Rupper" and "Comanche"...Matt said that Wray was the "Father of the Power Chord"...right he was.

Also, syndicated late night talker (and oldies expert) Rollye James opened HER show wth the announcement of his p***ing. James can be heard on terrestrial stations nationwide as well as XM's channel 165.

    RIP.
