I wish I had a crank handle! We ended up pull starting it that night and it lit right off, a crank handle would surely work.
Well, sure enough the spring on the Bendix starter drive broke. I ordered a new drive from Mac's and got it installed today. The car wouldn't start because the battery was flat but it's charging now and hopefully I'll get it started later. I love working on this car. It's pretty much just an old clean old car that's been lowered. Everything is simple, heavy duty, beautifully designed and nicely manufactured. I really don't think any cars after the mid 70's will ever be around as long as the cars from previous to that time. Sad.
Got it fired up this evening. But that's not the whole story. It's not really running to good and the rad is leaking. I already put a new carb on it so now I'm going to pull the rad to get fixed and give the car an electrical tune up. Then see where it goes from there. My goal is to get it running and driving nice and looking nice and then put it in the Devlin/Starbird show early next year.
