I am trying to replace that little rubber washer that is between the pitman arm and the suspension but I dont know what its called and when I try to tell the idiots at auto parts store they say there is not one that goes there .Mine is just torn so figured when I have pitman off I might as well replace .Thanks
with that description, yeah, it might be hard to find the part. The grease seals on parts like pitman arms are not normally sold individually, you usually have to buy the whole assembly. But if we had some idea what kind of car you're working on, we might could be slightly more helpful. and pictures, of course.
Sounds like you're talking about a tie rod end? If you can't describe it, or know what you're looking at.. wouldn't that make you the idiot?
Its a 1980 camaro front clip and its a little rubber seal that goes literally right between the pitman arm shaft on the suspension side and the pitman arm .Its looks like just a silver dollar size seal with rubber and a little metal inside washer .Its very thin and doesn't look like it does very much but figured i would put it since I cant imagine how they ever come off with out getting torn and damaged. 28A if that makes me a idiot what does it make you for responding to me lol.Now go keep over paying for American made cars and stay of my thread.
the pitman arm, the seal is part of the center link. The idler arm, the big seal on the right is part of the idler arm assembly, the little one on the left is part of the center link.
On my center link where the pitman arm comes in contact with it there is no thick bushing like that its just thin .I wonder if it was missing or what .It doesnt look like there is even enough space for it .Either way I am going to rebuild the whole front end .Thanks squirrel for pics
