Littlemans rides on Hard Shine!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Big Tony, Aug 17, 2007.

  1. I am just not impressed with what I saw of her last night. She appeared to be a whiner. Has she been productive on the other episodes? Dave impressed me immensely.

That may be the "reality" in this reality TV show, but that being said it has done two things for her rep & chicks working in hot rod shops-

    1) Made her look like she needs Shine, Pete C. & everyone else to dance around her on egg shells and make sure nobody says anything to hurt her feelings.

    2) Set chicks working in the hot rod business back a bit for nobody would want to deal with that shit on a daily basis.

Some of us have wife's at home and that touchy-feely, Oh my feelings are hurt B.S. is tiresome at home let alone at the workplace.

  3. If it is her, she has MPD. The posts aren't too awful consistent as if several people were writing them.

I came in after working in the shop and tied to keep my eyes open but fell asleep rite after the girl and here drama. If I would have known they were going to Daves I would have drank another Monster or atleast some coffee instead of Chocalate Milk. I am really liking the show.

There is a lot of perspective that one needs when watching these types of shows. Remember, there has been 4-5 episodes that have spanned 6 months. The show gets edited for drama and 'appeal' by the producers. While Sarah may come across as whiney, part of that is what the show is condensed to. I highly doubt that the drama seen is an everyday occurance.

Boyd's show is a good example. When a 6 week build is condensed to a 3 hour show, certain things are shown for effect as opposed to what was necessary in the build. I'd cut Sarah and the rest a lot of slack. If she was truely that bad, she wouldn't have lasted through the second show.

I haven't been watching regularly, but I happened to catch the show last night.

I really enjoyed the profile on Dave.

Seeing him with his family, and showing Jimmy around his garage is what it's all about.

I read an article about how this show came to pass. Apparently, these producers had less gimmick than the others. They have been after So-Cal for sometime to do this type of thing, again all per this article. Anyway, I liked the the rides this guy has built. Looks like he has a clue as to whats going on. I saw Shines truck at the LA Roadster show in June and it had a blower on the flatty and the frame was painted black, so I wonder if thats whats going to take place on the next show. Should be a good one.

Seeing Dave's world was defiantely cool from the eyes of a HAMB'r. It was pretty cool to see a HAMB car on there no matter who's it was, but Dave's DDS is definatley a good representative for the HAMB society.

By the way, great job Dave!!

Geeting to meet and hang out with Dave was certainly a great privilige of mine during filiming of the show. His understated persona and modesty is belied by his perfectly outspoken machinery and craftsmanship.

  19. We've been down that road. HERE

Great show, but I was a little disturbed by Karma Sutra position #134 perfomed in the garage.

Actually, the producers of this show are the same producers that work American Chopper...

I have only seen 2.5 episodes so far, the first one, part of another and last nights. If it weren't for Davey, it wouldn't be worth watching for me.

I think Jimmy should have just gotten together with Boyd and had a show called "Hot, Hard, American Rod Shine" Ha Ha Ha

You're right Plowbow, I couldn't take anymore of the whining, snivelling(sp?), crying blonde. It was like she was going through a massive monthly. I lost interest and was working on the dash for the A in the livingroom (putting lights in it) and then the part about Dave came on...like another show. The drama is forced now, not even good acting. So all I can say is "at a boy Dave".

I think that the Hard Shine gang should build a custom van and drive around solving mysteries with their talking dog.

Hey, where's that photo of Jimmy Shine that you were talking about at Bonneville? I think it needs to be re-posted...

  25. I have to add one thing that crying blonde chick has NO BUSINESS being at that shop I would have kicked her ass out a long time for not following directions and going above Jimmy's head. No one I mean no one not even Jimmy would convince me she is on that show for any other reason than to add drama for ratings..

To the uninitiated, this is a perfect time to acquaint yourself with Littleman BEFORE he became Mr. Hollywood and check out two of his cars. :p

Check out the Mad Fabricators Vol 4 for the humble story!

Remember people- it's easy to edit down to 15 minutes of drama from 90-plus hours of working. I was in & out of SO-CAL for a lot of that period and mostly I just saw a lot of people working on cars. I know I'm pretty laid back- but if someone had a camera in my face ALL day they could on rare occasions get me blowing up at the wife, kids and dogs- it's life- and that what the NON-car oriented viewer is watching in-between the car bits WE are entertained by.

I was about to pop up a post after watching it last night, but after seeing a few posts turn into crap-fests, I didn't. Littlman's garage was THE highlight between all that filler. We all knew about Death's Doorstep, so it's nice that the public got to see what "we" do. Did I read the episode right in that Jimmy boxed up DDS and brought it out to So-Cal? Almost as if they were going to work on it on the show?

BTW, who is this Dave guy anyway? :D
