I don't suppose there is any place on the web to watch this episode? My VCR only taped the first 5 minutes of this episode! Damn!

  2. I have to agree with the above. I hate whining, but it is a girl thing...but in the workplace...uh...no!
I would give my arm to be in her place and soak up alllllll that know-how that is there to be had. I think TLC encourages the drama....Like the show and hope Dave wins!

One of the parts of the show that really showed Shine's mentality was the moment he pinned the guy down about working on Christmas and other holidays. That ****ed!! An employer that knows what they're doing and is mature enough to run a shop would never ask someone to chose between family and work. Work is temporary, family is forever. I thought that was real chicken **** of Shine and I lost what respect I ever had for SoCal or Shine. I'd tell him to stick it up his *** too, after I punched him out!! He may of well insulted the guy's family. I guess Shines *** has been kissed so much that he has lost perspective of what's important in life. Sorry for the rant but I think that tells you all you need to know about Shine.

First off I just joined the board about 30 mins ago and discovered this site earlier today.

I have been becoming more and more interested in "rat rods" lately and have been an avid watcher of Hard Shine. The last episode with Dave's garage was the best!

It was this episode and seeing DDS that said man I gotta go find some rat rods on the internet. I started looking thru posts and said hey that Divco Milk truck looks familiar, holy sheet , could Littleman be Dave? Sure enough.

Dave, Dude you rock and your work is attention to detail is second to none. I am now a rat rod junkie and have dreams of building something with my son and make the trek from NJ to Bonneville.

You will no doubt excell wherever you may end up.

Just a heads up the term Rat Rod is not very highly regarded around here and I would not throw it around too much unless you are ready for a lashing especially when refering to anything that Littleman has built. Consider yourself warned:D

  10. Awesome statement right there, and so true. I actually recorded all the episodes and yesterday I sat down for a few hours and watched them all. As I sat there watching all these episodes I thought about a ton of things. One, was that I didn't see nearly enough "build" stuff, there was a lot of stupid **** (mostly because of that dumb chick that pissed and moaned a lot). I would have liked to see some tech stuff, but I know that the show was not created for that reason. Another thing I was thinking was that of the four "rookies", only one was relatively consistent. The dude named Dave seemed to really be the only one that put his head down and busted some ***. I've seen mention on here to "Littleman", but only just now did I make the connection (sorry, I'm slow). I just wanted to say that you appear to be a true craftsman, and I don't know if you got the job or not, but you are the one that deserved it.

"I didnt build it to go fast".. lol... cl***ic. Ya the hemi looks pretty slow man! Im kinda surprised littleman didnt get the job. I would think a self procalimed "pefectionist" would be exactly what they want at a hgih end shop like that. Anyway DDS is just plain bad***, I had to go look through the build thread again after watching the new episode tonight, really got me inspeired to work on my car...

If any of you really knew Jimmy or the So Cal shop for what it really is, you wouldn't want a job there. I'm sure Dave is happy to be done with it all. You can see who Jimmy really is on tonight's episode. Just talk to anyone who used to work at So Cal or does business with them, you'll understand..... *Just remember, every time you buy a So Cal T-shirt, that's over 60% their income right there----clothing, not hot rods.

and how do you know he didn't?? The offering/acceptance hasn't been announced yet.

I'd like to know why Jimmy called Death's Doorstep a "T-Bucket" last night? Inside joke or something??

Hey I have caught a couple of episodes of this show and Dave your over qualified for that job.
Way to go man. I usually miss the show because IM working on my own junk about then or just finishing up.
IM glad to see a normal guy getting some attention.

The one line that pisses me off everytime I hear it "were not some guy in his backyard were SoCal speedshop"

Did you listen, or were you just hitting the highlight's for your post? He said HE worked Christmas, he never said he expected anyone else to. Shine was talking about his own commitment, and dedication.

I own a business, and I have worked many holiday's usually cleaning up someone else's **** because they had to get home to their family, and weren't worried about me being with mine. Try running a business with the work ethic of today's workers, you just might have a new found appreciation for Shine and hell maybe even Duane.

I also heard the T bucket reference,Dave even repeated it back to Jimmi.
I think the hissy fit the one guy was throwing was a put on ,to get attention or distract from the fact he spent a bunch of money and didn't know what he was doing.
I still watch it,hell I even watch the Turtles,Tuetles,Teutels, whatever once in a while. It's good to laugh.
But then I'll watch two dogs getting it on down on the street corner, Yes I am easily amused.

  24. Jimmie has a tough job especially with cammeras and all, but he needs to interject more of himself in order to draw the publics sympathy to his plight. What I mean by that is at every openning the shows producers show the, " what have I got myself into ", clip. I think it shows him as a whiny *** and not the shrewd buisness man he is. Don't forget he's been in this for a long time and has a wealth of knoledge. Dave is good, very good to learn on his own like that and just think with Jimmies tutaledge he could go far, even farther than Jimmie, maybe. Thanks for listening, Rags

Unless that statement was an "inside" joke not shared with the viewers; it shows how little Jimmy "Shine" knows about Hot Rods. :(

I felt it was an insult to Dave (Littleman).

Perhaps a bit of jealousy on Jimmy's part as Dave's craftsmanship is excellent by anyones standards.

What's with the ricers? I thought SoCal was a Hot Rod shop. Not something I care to watch if that's where they are going.

I would have liked to see a lot more of Dave's Model 'A' coupe!!!:D

I will just interject my perspective on the remaining three.

Pudgy suburban Saturn guy needs to go back home to mommy and throw his tantrums on the living room floor where he won't get hurt.

Gangsta thug building the Tuner car should put his ap in at a regular body shop where he can work along-side the other average people with average talent.

Dave wins the job at So-Cal.

    period.

  27. My guess with Dave being a family man with roots more than likely in Ohio, he probably declined the offer. The only negative comment regarding Dave I have heard Jimmy Shine say is Dave is slow and meticulous. Did anybody notice the ricers started ordering bolt on **** and Dave ordered raw materials? What happened to his cool *** fuel lines? He went from the tinted lines to black rubber and hose clamps or was it my good eye screwing with me?

No. I don't think so. Here is my take.

I think Jimmy just made a plain innocent error calling it a T-Bucket and made the split second decision to not correct himself on national TV....and Dave is such a cl*** act that he would never CORRECT a respected authority such as Jimmy on national TV and just went along.

I think it was an innocent as this...and has happened to all of us before at one time or another

It's not live TV. If Jimmy made a mistake, and Dave corrected him, they could have edited it out if they wanted to and shoot that portion of the scene over.;)

I sure wish they would have shown more of what Dave was doing to his and less of the bolt on stuff to the other guys rides.

  30. after following the dds build up and listening to the storys about why he built the car i honestly think Dave deserves his own show
i have never meet him personally but wouldn't blink an eye to help him out. I bet he would do the same for most of us
    the HAMB is a family...
    Dave is the man...
    just my 2 cents
p.s. dave do you want to sell the spindle mounts LOL
    tk
