See you point HHRDave, but, I think ur jumping the gun a little and being a lil unrealistic. Especially in this time and age, a lot of people are feeling the pinch on how to spend their money. Evel's no Johnny Come Lately, I don't know him personally and only bumped into him in the past at car shows. I'm sure Evel can back-up his point and just wanted to point this out.

Good to hear Piero cakes. Otherwise HHRDave and the car show police are going to tell on you.

Evel I missed a ton of shows with my Model A, I did have other stuff to drive, but there is no better feeling when its all done!!!! Next year make the coolest trip from LA or SF to the roundup, it will be a story you can tell when your high!!! No reason to rush **** now just for the sake of making one show, that is a car you will have for life so I think it is awsome you are doing it right. Later meet you at the waffel house!

    Love

    Dave,

It is sounding a little arrogant to me. Especially considering the work Evel himself has put into the car.

I hope HHRdave has a good source for 1947 air for his period perfect vintage tires. It's tough being the traditional hot rod police...

  10. Evel, only you know how hard this decision is. I made the same call in the past, I can only relate slightly. Sorry to see things fizzle but you will be better off in the long run. There is a reason for everything, keep yer chin up.

I think comments about trophy winners not building their own cars.... Look at awards like the Riddler, AMBR, Pebble Beach.... Not always, but a lot of the time, car OWNERS who win trophys for their car are not the car builder. So kind of a silly comment.

I know I have no money to have other people building my cars...

Evel wasn't trying to fool anyone with what he brought. There were other projects in the show that weren't finished either, but people brought them to show their progress. Evel paid his show entry and had plans for his car to be in the show. If it didn't get running in time, should he just throw his entry fee away, and stay home and not participate? It's just a hobby dude. It's just an opportunity to show off your hard work. There is obviously a lot of hard work in Piero's ride, and the judges thought so, too.

The only fooling Evel is doing is that he's really into Glam Rock. I mean the guys dresses like the lead singer in Warrant. He may not have taste in clothes, hair style, etc., but Hot Rods, YES!

I know flying is not as much fun as driving BUT I just checked Orbitz for you (not sure where you live) from LAX to AUS on Thursday, coming back on Sunday and the cost is $605 on US Airways. Yes, expensive because of the late date BUT you certainly would spend more then $600 in fuel to drive there and back. Something to think about.

I'm presently mulling over the same decision... I thought about just getting in the daily and driving there anyway... but I may just sit it out and do the Auto Fair... ****s... But there are more shows... and more metal videos to watch.....

Wait till they all see the **** pile that I will have at the show(gnrs) next year. I think the only reason I will have it in the show is for others to have their crack at it and be putting me down......KNUX!

How can you say he can have it running and back in, in 24 hours!!????? You DONT even know what's wrong with it??!!! If your such an expert and serioulsy fast at rebuilding and resourcing parts and possibly machine work, why don't you go and help him instead of running your keys(mouth) on here?? Only one thing comes to mind with you.....jealousy?? Running or not his car was a hit. Why don't you pull you fuel lines on your car, park it right next to his at the next show and see how many awards you can tally. :)

Whats funny, is that I remember the whole last year of this car being built. I don't once recall this car ever being represented as something it wasn't. There was no dishonesty involved, just pure and simple one bad mother ****in car built in a a year. The detail work on this car is impressive, to say the least. I know, cause I have seen it in person.

I get the feeling that someone drank too much hater-ade.

Are you serious???? How many times did I explain to you that we ****ING RAN OF TIME TO GET IT RUNNING!!! I DIDN'T TAKE IT TO THE SHOW TO WIN TROPHYS!!!!!!ARE YOU JELLIOUS OF THE HYPE AND GLAM THAT I"VE BEEN POSTING!!!!!! WHAT IS YOUR P-R-O-B-L-E-M!!!!!!!!???????????????????Theres somthing deeper than the Non running issue...
were you a latchkey kid???? why dose this bother you so much????

You can not take your non-running cars to the show and I could give a rats ***!!!!!
I wouldn't call you out onit in every post that shows your car... I don't care about what say....

I'll take my NON-RUNING car to the show to show what i have acomplished in a years time...Runing or not..and thats my business ..if the Judges want to give me props cool if not cool... but to hand it to the next guy...c'mon..Really?

This whole ****ing 24 hour **** is stupid as well...when you have me and my buddy working on it with 3 hours sleep a night and say hey lets pull the motor AGAIN and see if we can fix it
in a day....its just dont fly....with a caddy motor and little time the odds are not on my side...not including
paying my buddy for helping... its just not right....I rather miss a trip than rush ****... Thats what got me here in the first place....you want come over and "Knock it out" cool..let's
    go....

Maybe if I built stripe down lakes cars I would have more time to have a running car than taking my time on details and making a nice finished car....

I NEVER CLAIMED THE CAR WAS RUNNING!!!!!!

I never have had beef with any one on the HAMB but I think your wrong. and it's ******* me off....

Bottom Line is I didn't build this car to get everyones approval...I built it for me!!! and I can give a **** what you think... so that being said...i'll be in the shop tomorrow pulling
the motor so next time I enter a show..you won't cry.

    What hype and Glam!?

dude, he chronicled the build of his hot rod over the year in which it was built.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall seeing detailed pictures and explanations of a frame up build you've posted....

Piero, next time run a Y-block!
ha ha- car looks awesome, sorry about your motor
