Event Coverage Live!! From Long Beach Motorama

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Evel, Sep 29, 2011.

  1. This reporting is really cool, watching the show develop in the arena. The backdrops are so frickin cool! This may be the most historic non-permanent show ever. Loved seeing the great one, Blackie G., talkin the stuff with a pal. Eddie I. also looks just fab. And one of the coolest cats erver Bill Hines, just so wonderful to see these legends in there doing their thing. I appreciate this neat-o coverage and lookin forward to more of same. Livin the hot rod world thru your generous sharing. Mucho Gracious ~sololobo~

WOW! Amazing coverage Piero! Wish I coulda been there. So many things stand out in your pics, but those trophies of the ghost hands wielding tools, those are wicked-cool!

So cool to see the masters all together, I gotta lot of respect for those guys!

Went yesterday with my son and had a great time.

Sure reminded me of when I was a kid and my dad took me to the shows there. I still have a few of his trophies from when he put his '56 F100 in the shows later on in the early '70s when it was the Tridents deal.

My son is 24 and ended up knowing the girl that was picked to sit in one of the dragsters for the cackle fest last night which I'm sure was a pretty cool thing to be able too do.

Went yesterday with my son, we were in LA for other stuff saw a sign on a lamp post and decided to go find it on our way down south. Great show, he had never been to an indoor show before (and he's 23, I guess I failed as a dad). I've never seen so many chopped mercs! And the drag display was killer, Miles car next to the Winged Express...man....

where's the oz kustoms entry? D'augustino's new car? and rick dore's stuff? did any of those show up?

  13. None of them showed up, D'agostino had his T-bird there, but Chopit made up for it, by bringing like 10 cars it seemed:D

Really cool show btw, you gotta make it out here next year Jeff.

    D'agostinos T-bird.

ahh! yah got me! (well my dad) way back white t shirt facing the camera.

got to meet blackie and barris, they were awesome. then my ears began to bleed with the blown hemi drag cars. OH MY GOD! it was the best feeling every when the ground was shaking and everyone covered their ears, hell nah, not me! this show was great!

  28. Hey, Thanks Piero for bringing all the sights to the innernet viewing public.

there really is no substitute for standing on the arena floor with the lights and curtains and 2000 lbs of rock salt, Rik's diorama backdrops and a handful of HAMB'ers with some really awesome vehicles on display. Congrats to Lucky Burton, Bear Metal Kustoms and Borne Stage for getting those rigs on the floor. each one was stellar in its own right.

the weather was perfect. the venue was stellar. the quality and variety of cars was unrivaled. the tribute and honor paid to those whom paved the way was commendable.

everyone can find a gripe with any show they attend. this show has more to praise than any i've been to in many years.

the best for me was watching the faces of all the guys gathered around the Lions Drag Strip Video as they relived the days that made the sport great.

Thanks Trace, Riun, Piero, Staff and all that made the 2011 Motorama another enjoyable weekend!

  30. Congratulations to Lucky Burton on the 32 Truck! I was told it got the 'Peoples Choice' Award and an invitation to the Peterson Museum for Deuce week!
