    Evel,
That's just the price you pay for "being kool!" Hang in there. Breaking down in a kool car is cooler than rollin' in a shit car any day. :D

A true hot rod is kind of like dating a lingerie model. You know she is a real bitch and it's hard to convince yourself to keep with it, but somehow you always do. That's a sweet car. Best of luck and keep at it. :)

Just like 'you can't turn a whore into a housewife'.....

you apparently 'can't turn a showcar into a driver'

    ha ha ha :D

She looks good dude, all that pretty paint and chrome gets fucked up when you drive them.. ain't it great... I think you may look into a timing issue causing a ton of excess heat in the header, caused it to break.. yea take a look at the valves too.. hot rods you have to love them.

glad you had some fun with it.

to bad it still isn't running correctly.

the vacuum advance doesn't neccesarily need to be hooked up, how built the motor is, how much timing it likes and on and on.

crank that timing up till it pings (when under a load) or starts hard, then back it off little bits at a time, check it to see if it pings if it doesnt run it and see how it runs. cranking over hard like a hot start will also tell you the timing may be a little to far advanced.

    good luck

  10. Ah yes, Highway pit stops to take a leak is one thing you can count on, another is, someone is going to run into a problem. Hot Rods, you've got to love them, never leave home without a tool box.
Roadside repairs are what helps make things interesting.
Glad you were able to get her home, definitely check those valves and the timing.

If they polished them enough around that weld to make it so thin that it broke, maybe they polished EVERYTHING like that...making the whole pipe a lot thinner, which I think would cause it to blue more. It'd have to be a LOT of polishing on those pipes, that probably wouldn't have needed it, but still something to consider.

You'll get the bugs worked out soon enough. Kicks ass that you're out driving it man...and having fun!
