    And your point is? lol
My daughter who is a 28 y/o mechanic, blonde hair, blue eyed and gorgeous. When she was in high school she brought home some of her mates and of course the boys wanted to see the shed. She told them that the world stopped in 1963 at our house. cheers

I don't usually explain jokes, but it may not translate well to the other side of the world. I doubt anybody took offense, everybody here knows the jokes. The 1970s America are regarded by many if not most as some of the worst trends, styles or fashions and haven't aged well at all, they were pretty horrid then too. There were some good times then, but it overall ****ed badly in many ways. We had orange **** carpet, and as a matter of fact somewhere around here is a GE Avocado green combination electric can-opener, knife sharpener and kitty attractor. Works pretty good.

I've got a story with a different twist. I've posted pictures and info on HAMB about a 61 Vette that I owned back around 1969. I bought it when I got out of the army and decided that it might go a little better with a big block Chevy 427 crammed into it. I was still living home so the only way to get it done was to kick my father out of his garage and after a couple months I got it back on the road. Needless to say it went like hell and gained quite the reputation around town. My father never wanted to go for a ride in it but one day his car had to go to the shop for some transmission work so I offered to let him take the Vette to work for a couple of days until his got fixed. A couple of days later I took the Vette to the local burger joint to get a bite to eat and when I got out of the car one of my friends came running over and asked me if I was crazy. I asked what the hell he was talking about and he said "I saw you in the Vette the other day going up east main street in the outer lane p***ing everything in site. You must have been going 80." Dad would never admit to it and only gave me a big grin !!

Yep my dad built our house in 1965 and my mothers kitchen was pink and black. The family room had a salt and pepper **** carpet and you used a leaf rake to freshen it up.

My dad died when I was 19. He was machinist, wind tunnel model maker, and I was always in his shop. When I turned 50 my mother gave me tee shirt which had written in permanent black marker. "Celebrating the 32 anniversary of his 18th birthday, the son who never grew up". She died at 95 and we always celebrated my birthdays as anniversaries. It's too bad my dad never saw or could help me when I needed him the most. I'm sure he would loved to have watch our racing especially half half mile dirt Perris Super Stock and El Mirage.

You have a point, but god I miss the 70's! Some good times had back then that you will never have again, and the music was to die for! IMHO. ;)

@Truck64 no offense taken or explaining needed. Growing up in Australia was very much the same as the US. Although it happen just a tad later but Mum and Dad still had the same color schemes. I was just being sarcastic and it jogged my memory of my story with our daughter, cheers

p.s If anybody wants some 70's Tupperware, burnt orange and chocolate brown, my wife has cupboards full of that stuff

I rolled into the golf course today in my OT 69. Foghat blaring from the 6x9s. Parked in my normal spot, the"no peaking here" zone. The guys who followed me for the last 10 miles off the freeway said "damn, that car is loud and hard to keep up with". Yeah, it costs me a lot of gas money to drive her the 40 miles round trip but like the song goes "slow ride, take it easy..."

But we also had hot pants, pink floyd, bra-less halter tops, Aerosmith, hip hugger jeans, Reo Speedwagon, loose ***ual morals, Fleetwood Mac, custom vans, and yes, orange ****.....**** I miss it..

You guys are making excellent posts on this thread. I have driven antique/hotrods ONLY for 51 years so far. It's not a hobby, it's a lifestyle.

You & I both have had a lot of seat time in the old cars, I will stop short of calling it a lifestyle, for me it's more a way of life. HRP

  27. My wife to be (and still is) wanted the avocado fridge and stove. I couldn't let that happen but I had to compromise and go with harvest gold. Sold those ****ers with the house 25 years later.

This is an OT story but please allow me to share. A number of years ago I took my OT car to the dealership for a tuneup. My car was not done at the promissed time so as an apology the mechanic loaned me his own personal 1969 Dodge Charger for a couple hours. HOLY ****!!! I had never driven a car with so much raw power. The accelleration was off my scale. The tires felt like balloons. Just a slight touch of the gas peddle took all of my attention to keep the Charger going in a straight line. The shear power was breathtaking. Thay was a very fun afternoon of driving!
