Like the title says, which one works best? Internet has its own pros and cons, but could someone who tried both share honest opinion? I'm looking for sound deadning and heat insulation solutions. Thanks!
I applied both sound and heat Lizard skin to the floor pan of my avatar, the floorpan under the car and the complete floor pan, firewall, inside the 1/4 panels, and doors inside the car. It is no different than spray painting with regards to being messy, you should mask the areas you do not want covered. Because I am known for over doing things I then applied Hush Mat over the Lizard Skin on the inside floor under the area to be carpeted. When the car is apart is really the only chance to do things the right way, I did not want to ever say “ I wish I would have”.
I used both flavors of Lizardskin in two vehicles. Thought about the cut and paste competitors but figured one potential problem with them would be the outcome if water somehow found its way under them. The thinking being that the Lizardskin would not have this vulnerability. Seems to have worked well from that perspective but don’t have comparative data re sound or heat effects.
For later modifications, lizard skin, both kinds, sound and heat works great, if you Need to drill or ever do work cutting out etc, its alot easier to modify a interior with that stuff on it vs the Mat. The Matt for ease of installation works great, acoustic control is pretty damn good, but heat control it is not. The dynamat by itself does nothing for heat really, you have to do a overpayment of jute, foil insulation etc whatever, I have used Dynaliner on a headliner with great results.
I used Kilmat which is similar stuff but way more affordable. Also found alternate material from China on Alibaba. What is easier to find where you are?
I used both also on both my cars,i used spray raptor liner underneath and inside floors and fire wall. Then i used Killmat on top of that.I also used boom mat under the carpet.
Thats a very good insight, never thought about that!!! As i'll be building custom interior, you never know where and what needs to be drilled or cut. There are lots of cheaper alternatives in Lithuania/Europe. I used Dynamat name just for brand awareness, basically all of them are very similar, in general its just butyl-rubber mix sheet
