I didn't have any trouble with a job getting in the way of having fun. I'm retired!

Not trying to get OT here, but I've recently read several mentions by members about missing car related events because of their own experiences in this area :(. After spending six days in the hospital myself with a GI bleed, followed by the indignity of a colonoscopy, I believe we should form an alliance of our own :D. One name immediately comes to mind: PHAOW (Perfect HAMB Assholes of the World) and I'm sure there are others ;).
Edit: Maybe it should read "PAHOW", (Perfect Asshole HAMBsters of the World) ;)?

I can retire in August next year, have to be 55. But I guess I'll keep right on working, have you seen the price of these damn hot rod parts? :D

A guys got to do what a guys got to do! :D

Lloyd, I worked until I was 62, but the last 28 or so years I was self employed. Everyone that is self employed just knows he gets to work whenever he wants. (Not!)

Probably around age 55 I started paying real close attention to the things I was buying, and how I was spending money. I always was pretty watchful on my spending habits, but that renewed effort made a huge difference in my financial picture.

After I retired, I built a truck I found out I didn't fit in, updated my coupe, sold the truck I didn't fit in, and built the blue truck. I know how much stuff costs, and the last couple years that cost has really jumped up.

I'm done with the building stage and am at the maintain stage, but I still get to poke fun at you guys that still have to work. But keep working, someone has to provide my Social Security check.:p:D

Well, I am home. Left Lloydfest, went to S. Carolina to look at Motor Home, then to look at another MH just north of Atlanta. Going to buy that one and will pick it up on way to Dawsonville Moonshine Festival in a couple of weeks. Left there and went to Wife's brother''s place in N. Carolina and stayed 3 days. While there, Wife and her brother went to visit their brother in the hospital, he is not doing well.
Looking forward to Lloydfest II next year. I am sure it will be bigger and better, not that the first one wasn't. I had a great time and was proud to be part of it. Ron

I could have retired as early as 50 but the numbers didn't work. Fast forward 8 years and the powers that be started to make things really difficult. So I reran the numbers and pulled the pin in December '09. Best thing I ever did. The Monday morning gnawing in my gut disappeared AND I used my vacation payout to build my shop. That said stay working as long as you can since the more years of service you have the higher your monthly check will be. BUT if work becomes too much like work and you can afford it walk away. I agree on the retirement, I was eligible for retirement at 47, but kept working till I was 60, for a better income. Been retired now 11 years. Worked for me! Now enjoying life. Loved my job….but like retirement better! Lol

I was talking about the beer lmao! And I've been doing some research, reading the online Bible, and it's got me nervous about putting the 781 head on the gen v block!! Sounds like the odds aren't in favor of it not leaking coolant into the lifter Valley, even with the felpro 1037 gaskets!
