"A 10-gallon gas tank divided by 17mpg compounded by a prostate that requires even more frequent pit stops, I could probably get there just in time to turn around and head for home."

When I flew small airplanes, they had a piss tube you wore for long flights attached to a hose out the back of a airplane. You could adoped such a idea for long drives and position it out the back also.
Waiting for tailgaters would be a plus. :D:eek:

Of course. For preliminary planning I'm near I-70 exit 137 in central Missouri. That's about 10 miles east of Columbia, Missouri.

  4. Great! Haven’t planned the route yet, I’d be honored to follow Clarence into Lloyd’s!

My folks bought one of those, back in about 1955or so. I went camping it it in So calif as a kid and stayed it it on our voyage back to Oklahoma back in Oct of 1957! My grandmother baked me a cake for my birthday in Arizona on Rt 66! We had it for years back here in Oklahoma, we used it fir a deer camp on the ranch…. Then my Dad sold it. I think it was a Shasta? Great memories in that little trailer!

Lloyd, I guess there is a huge area at the drag strip? All I need is room. Not 100% sure I can be there, but hoping. Need a road trip, bad!

Yes sir the place is huge. The area that he told me we can use is probably 5 acres or more, just a guess. But it's big. I didn't walk over and check it out, but he told me there are camper hookups over there.

Here's the layout. He's saying we can use the left side of the track, which isn't mowed in this picture. But I'll work out the details more over the next few weeks. i64-motorplex-dragway-owingsville-ky-2015isfd08.jpg download.jpeg.jpg

Got the 261 in there! Started out with a load leveler but it was too tall without taking off the hood. My hood/fender alignment is good so I got inventive. The ratchet strap gave me just enough tilt to send her home with the transmission attached. I’ve got sheet metal to reinstall, fuel line to run, yadda yadda.

Tim has the track leased through the end of the year, so we're still good on the get together ;)

No entry on my deal, not sure what you're asking. They're busy down there every weekend, but I think the guy that owns the whole shebang wants to sell it. Tim has the track leased from him. Hoping that somebody picks it up and keeps the track going.

Talk about a great opportunity for a guy that is gregarious, outgoing, familiar with running his own business, lives in close proximity, loves to drag race and likes to put on gatherings. Perfecto. ;)

I asked my buddy that helps there every weekend, he said it's self supportive. They have some good events there, gasser races, street outlaws, etc... super easy access from Interstate 64. It's a good track.

Maybe I missed it, but what days are you planning at the track? Saturday & Sunday?

The whole event, Friday Saturday and Sunday. Friday is test and tune, Saturday is race day. You'll have to pay to run your car, but my shindig is free.

Currently building a new house. Retirement is in sight, just not into going in debt, more into not having any debt when I hang up my fire helmet.

Aren't you close to retirement? Take the lump sum payout instead of the monthly check and walah you're in the drag strip business. And my guess is that owning a drag strip is like owning a car trailer or a hoist, you'll have plenty of friends:cool:

  30. You knucklehead! Charge each one of these hoodlums $500 entry/camping/potty fee for the weekend, and there's your down payment. Repeat this event for a few years and BINGO.... you're a dragstrip owner! easy-peasy! I'll be sending my bill for consulting in the next day or two......
