Over the past 6 months I've had offers from guys here to help me financially with putting this on, guys saying that they can't possibly make it, but wanna help out. I told them to hold off until it got closer. Well it's closer, and you guys that messaged me about it, if you're still interested in helping, shoot me a message. I'll put your hamb name on the back of the shirts, and you'll also recieve a shirt in the mail. ;)

Just a note, Ashley "the Lloydfest nazi", is handling the "registration" side of things. If you are coming to hangout with us, shoot me your address in a conversation, so we can send you a pass to get in the gate for free, otherwise you'll have to pay admission to the drag strip. And it cost nothing to come and hangout for the weekend. You'll have to pay for your food, if I have enough catfish, the fish fry will be free. Some of the members are sponsoring the event, if you're doing this, but not attending, I'll also need your address to send you a shirt. All sponsors names will be on the back of the shirt. Thinking black shirts, with LLOYDFEST 2023 "A traditional hot rod gathering" on the front. Not nailed down yet. I've got local automotive sponsors that are donating tools to give away. Sponsor money is going towards shirts, beer, more prizes, and I'm thinking a cash prize for the quickest et. Also if you guys are interested, we'll all throw some money in the bucket, like $20 each? And we'll race as a group. Winner takes all. I'm also planning a scenic cruise through the backroads for those that want to go. Poker run if you will, and best hand when we get back to the drag strip wins a prize, maybe cash, maybe a gas card? Anyway, any questions, just send me a conversation. October 6th 7th and 8th. Looking forward to a great weekend with some like minded people!

Like minded people. There can only be one Lloyd. I hope anyway. We would be in a lot of trouble if there's more like you.
    Sounds like a great time.

As far as a band goes, if I can only have live music on 1 night, which night would be better, Friday or Saturday?

Lloyd, you might be surprised! I took my Dad to the USS Enterprise CV-6 reunion back in the 1990s. I expected old sailers in wheel chairs and a boring time……..WRONG!
After driving all day to get there and getting my folks bedded down, I went down to the hotel bar for a drink……those 75 to 90 years old sailers partied me into the ground! I had to head for the rack, leaving those guys running wild ! They called me all kinds of names like, pussy, kid, wimp as I left!
I went back every year they had those reunions! The last one in 2012, in New York City! Great bunch of guys…..I now, know why and how we won the war!

    Damn it Lloyd,
It’s time for you to take a mental health respite on Saturday.
    Saturday is my pick.
We will be getting there later on Friday.

Lol my band is on the outs, bass player quit, pissed off the guitar player, etc... so I've got messages out to other bands, waiting on their price to see what happens.

I’m thinking large name tags, so we can see, with your avatar picture included. I sometimes recognize the avatar picture, more than the name.

Oh I'm sure they want to play, but if they give me some astronomical price, we'll go another route.

I've talked to Tim that runs the drag strip today. We ironed a few things out over the phone, but we're meeting in person tonight to put it all on paper. We have a big area that has 4 30 amp camper hookups on it, that'll be first come first serve. I'm making it so that like I said, we all get in the gate free, but if you want to run your car down the track, you'll have to register it. It's $25 on Friday, which is test and tune, and they usually have a gamblers race of you wanna play, and Saturday is $35. But he pays most of that out to the driver's. I'll be registering my car, even if I don't go down the track, just to help Tim. There's a discrepancy on food vendors because he owns the concession stand, and a food truck will hurt his bottom line, but he told me that if I bring in food vendors, they can pay him a percentage. Which is understood, question to you guys coming, are you good with buying food from the concession stand? My firefighters union will be making/selling homemade corndogs, and he told me we're good to go on that because it's for the fire department. Let me know what you all think. After this evening I'll have it all nailed down.

I also told him we'll do something for spectators as far as locals coming in to see everybody's cars. Not a show, but he'll advertise that we're having a traditional car gathering at the drag strip, might help him generate funds from spectators coming to see your car. He's helping me, so I wanna help him right back. I've had a bunch of you guys sponsor this, and a simple thank you isn't enough to say how much it means. It's pretty damn cool actually. After paying for everything, if there's money left, I'm gonna give it to the drag strip. I posted a few days ago that the track property was for sale, it sold, but the good thing is, the guy that bought it, did so to ensure that the track stays open. Tim is gonna continue into the future, so my plans are to go right back there next year!

I'm in for supporting the racetrack owner in any way possible. That includes buying food from him.

  22. I’m in full agreement with this.

  23. Um.... some of those attending may be fugitives from justice or in the Witness Protection Program. Nametags might be risky!

  24. We could do a 50/50 draw with proceeds going to the track.

I vote for food trucks over track food. The guy is doing you a good favor but we are going to be generating some money his way that wouldn't be there w/o LLOYDFEST. I do understand him wanting a percentage of food truck sales. I just hope he would be reasonable.

  26. Race Track food rocks! I’ve worked on a bunch of food trucks in St. Louis and let’s just say that cleanliness is not a priority.

Track food and food trucks and corndogs OH MY!!!! Sounds good to me. I found a corndog in the bottom of my freezer that was probably there for close to a year yesterday. It wasn't half bad after a few drinks!
