  1. It's elected officials, we can probably push em a little lol. They're all cool, seems to be no problem at all so far. The commissioner is the one that offered up the city's big grill for us to use.

Today I went to lunch about an hour away with an internet acquaintance (whom I'd never before met). He and some others at the restaurant asked me what this Lloydfest was that was emblazoned across my tee shirt.

When I explained they were all smiles and stated that they liked hot rods also.

Can't wait to get a Lloydfest 2024 tee shirt.

Hope you make it too. My birthday is the 4th, and my daughters is the 14th. You bring the cake, I'll bring the candles and a fire extinguisher;).

    @Bill's Auto Works,

    Bill,

Sherry and I are about 3 miles south right off of 599 in a VRBO cabin. We'll be neighbors! AND we'll be in Clarence this year.

  9. Hey guys! Wanna say thank you to you guys and gals that have helped me this year. I couldn't do it without you all, and that's the damn truth. Well, September 6th & 7th will be here before we know it! Friday evening we'll hang out, have a drink if you'd like, eat, and tell lies. Bring them parts that you wanna pawn off on somebody else! Saturday morning we'll head out to the nada tunnel and through the red River gorge for another poker run. Best hand wins something. Not sure what it'll be yet. And I'm getting some Kentucky bourbon barrel heads Lazer engraved/ etched with the Lloydfest 2024 logo, those that show up will decide who gets them. I'm still planning on a mig or plasma giveaway, we'll see. But it's on! Hope to see as many as we can get this year!!! Love you guys

  10. You know how to have a party!

  11. Can’t wait Brother!! The three of us will be there early to help out with whatever needs doing. You are right, it will be here before we know it. You gotta mix Tonya a Kentucky Mule or several!

  12. Forgot to mention the Saturday evening feed and live music.
This year we're gonna do a valve cover race. So get off your ass and build a bad ass racing valve cover! Of course the winner will be rewarded. :D I'm thinking best looking valve cover, and overall winner.

How about a Coyote valve cover with an ACME rocket on top?

  14. Make the trip brother! I'm lenient on my rules :D

  15. It's going to be great!
I'll be living in my van. Down by the river.

Kind of like a soap box derby thing? Power or no power? Does the winner get to hold the title, "Valve Cover Eliminator", until Lloydfest 2025? Can we have a permanent trophy with the winner's names engraved for each year? The trophy stays with you. I guess in keeping with the spirit of the thing, the winner's name could be written with Magic Marker.

  19. Is the track wide enough for BBC covers or are we keeping it small block?

  21. Like the pinewood derby, but using a valve cover instead of a block of wood?

  22. The Commissioner? .... Gewed gawed ladies, I am pretty damn positively sure(ish) that "Lloyd" is nothing but an alias used to hide his real identity ... he's Bat Man

  23. I hope the track is big enough for Big Block Chevrolets! Chandler is working on one now!

So, I looked up this valve cover racing deal, and it seems as if there are several racing organizations with rules. Most of them require that the gasket surface of the cover can't be changed, nothing longer than 30"s, width varies between 10 to 15 inches, no steel wheels contacting the surface, maximum weight of 10 pounds, fixed weights only, maximum height of 10 inches above the track surface, body can't be lower than 3/4 inch above the track surface, maximum diameter of the wheels are 6 inches, the front wheels can't extend past the body, no power, gravity only. After reading some of the different rules, there are definite classes from stock to extremely modified. Google valve cover racing and you'll see there are lots of different ways to do this. The specs on the track are pretty much all the same.

    Seriously ?
Were talking main events is Bourbon and drag racing. (Not together or in that order.)
Swingers for the ones above. :D ( I crack myself up)
Valve covers - this isn't Bloomington Gold or NSRA.
It should be run whatcha brung. @alanp561
Cripes... I'm not going but with last year - just go and watch drag races and sip some Burbon and enjoy some fellow HAMB'rs..
But don't sip out of the Bourbon bottle after Lloyd though @Lloyd's paint & glass - he spits yellow jackets into the bottle.

Nah, I think this inaugural Valve Cover Extravaganza should have some rules. I believe that the rules are subject to interpretation, just like Smokey Yunick would do it. If it doesn't say you can't, then you can until someone protests, and the rules get changed. ;)

Don’t start - if you do - you can’t stop.
    Then it’s fubar.

No rules - brings out the Hoodlum best :)

  29. Gravity. Google valve cover racing and you'll see some of it. Kinda like miniature soap box derby. images.jpeg.jpg
