Event Coverage LLOYDFEST III.... SEPTEMBER 5TH-7TH 2025

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Jan 6, 2025.

  1. should do one thats shaped like an outhouse for "biggest shitbox"
the most rust, worst running, etc

  2. Not sure any of that is anything to be proud of?

    Lane,

You coming? Invitation to spend the night before at our place in Central Missouri is still good. It's a little over 7 hours actual driving time from here to Jeffersonville. Last year we made it in time to eat supper with the crowd on Thursday evening. That's 7 hours driving; plus stops (probably an hour or more); plus losing an hour for the time zone change.

  4. its not, however a shitbox surviving a road trip is pretty impressive

  5. Mike, If I do it'll be last minute, It totally depends on work, If we are still short handed then no, if we aren't I'm going to try my damndest!

  6. There's a difference in having a rusty car and driving it, I'm all in on that. However having a poor running car is a no go for me.

  7. We would love to have you Lane!

Hoping you can get away, but I understand the work thing. In my business I have missed holidays, weddings, funerals & literally hundreds of get togethers with friends, the older I get the more it weighs on my heart.

    God Bless
    Bill

On the map it looks like the Lexington airport is well under an hour away from the shindig. Any number of us will gladly pick you up from there.

  10. As of right now, we will be bringing two vehicles because the 3 of us will not fit in Papaw for that distance. Tonya will have her Equinox if we need to go pick up Lane.

  11. If I can get away I would love to jump in one of my cars and drive but I will see if I fly I will take someone up on the offer!

I used this gun to paint my cars 40 years ago. Once I bought a HVLP it became a primer gun but for the last couple of decades it was just taking up space and gathering dust.

Fun story, I was painting my 68 396 chevelle , had it primered/blocked/sealed, filled the cup, failed to properly lock the damn thing in place and it fell off, hosing the car with code RR (resale red) Centari. What a mess.

Anyway, I tore it apart, polished the hell out of it, engine turned a couple bits and it will adorn that base I posted earlier. One of you will take possession of the trophy bearing it at this years LFIII.

Lloyd, we are planning on being at Lloydfest again this year. Is it possible to reserve the spot next to the old station that we had last year? That spot worked out very well. Also, put me down again for helping with T-shirts. I'm bringing the '40 on trailer behind Motor Home. The following weekend we are going to Moonshine/Race car show in Mt. Airy, N.C.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting some new ones. Ron

The second trophy is welding themed and as such the base got an old striker and some MIG tops I had laying around from an old welder I owned.

It is a bit large but it will hold this.

An excellent old cutting head that Wizz (@Pist-n-Broke )had lying around and couldn’t get parts for any longer. It is not light!

After liberal amounts of polishing it came out looking pretty cool

It will be mounted to an engine turned and polished piece of aluminum that Wizz had lying around and mounted to the base above.

Yeah, she’s a beauty! The stories it could tell!

So just message your address and I’ll get the torch from my mini tanks in the mail so you can stay in practice. I’m always happy to help. In fact I would even be willing to send both the cutting and welding heads.

  22. Fantastic! I’m looking forward to seeing you!

  23. is there an exact address to look for? i cant find any parks in Camargo Ky, trying to plan my route

    Bill's Auto Works likes this.
  24. Look up the Montgomery County Kentucky Fire Department, the park is right next to the Station in Camargo. It’s on US Route 460.

If I get this thing together it adds about an hour to go through Waterloo

  29. Waterloo Iowa or Waterloo Illinois? :D I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, but moved to Waterloo Illinois in 1986.

Watch out for that sneaky Andy guy. Last year we planned to convoy together. I'm about 2 1/2 hours further from east KY than Waterloo. Then he told me he was leaving at 0-dark-thirty, so I'd have to leave home not too long after my normal bedtime. We enjoyed each other's company once we got there but didn't drive down together.

    See y'all there!!!
