It caught my breath when I saw in the new Rod & Custom, then when I saw nearby "McKinleyville, CA" in the owner's location stat.
It's the 2-page '60 Ford Starliner, pg 54-6. Tried to remember when I seen it, and realized: in Pro Pacific Auto, with the interior plastic wrapped for cover (had my '57 being fixed there. 'Nother story entirely.) Beautiful car!
It's neat to read credit of local business, but wierd when one of them, you feel, doesn't deserve mention.
Well, to each his/her own. I'm just not in the right "in crowd" for better motor work.
Beautiful car, though.
Ya guys ever have that experience, finding the local rod in the mag pages, full color? What's it like for you?

That car made me cry. All a '60 Starliner needs to be perfect is a 390 or bigger FE and chromies. Sounded like he started with a fairly pristine original too. Not a single modification on that car improved it aesthetically.

3. a few years ago i'm thumbing through one of the big mags, and i come across a very cool 37 chevy truck. it was a coca-cola truck with with coca-cola embossed into the tail gate and side of the cowl. well, reading the article i find out that this thing was about 5 miles from my house in a barn! man that sucked. well i still haven't seen it around.

I have occasionally seen local cars in a mag whereever I lived at the time. Most recent was a couple of months ago. A black 32 coupe with red T'n'R, Corvette hub caps, and Impala steering wheel and column. It is a really good looking car in person.

5. I know the exact coupe you are talking about. A couple of years ago I had a chance to make an award "pick" at the Goodguys Pleasanton gig. I picked that little Duece! It is a sweetheart!
Don.

6. Yea, a few months back there was an ol' Black Bull Nosed coupe in the R&C. Sweet ol' heap. [IMG]

Oh, and on the cover of "How to chop tops" at the bottom is a super chopped salt coupe with "Lancing Engines" on the hood. It's local and still the same owner.

8. I see alot from around Spokane. That gold Zepher that got all the awards is a local car. It's going to be sold at Barret Jackson. We have some good builders around here. Some younger guys with talent too.
