I also was at the same car show as Hotflint and we have mutual friends even though we have never met. I also recognized the "Wise Guy" by Hotflint's description and emailed him this thread. I'm very impressed that he would sign up to publicly apologize for what happened. I would like to offer up a H.A.M.B.-sized Tool Time Salute and will buy him a beer the next time I see him.
Thank you for the explanation, I did not understand that that was the situation, thank you! Not very often are there people who are willing to get involved and explain what happened. We do want to attention next years show, as I said we were not interested in winning a trophy, the satisfaction for us is meeting the people who go to the shows etc. That show is actually one of my favorites.
Read post #87 before you post, guys! And Newageretro, thanks for taking the time & effort to explain the situation to Hotflint We all know mistakes & misunderstandings can happen at any event.
Your car is your trophy. That's what your friends and peers come to the show to see, admire and evaluate. They couldn't care less about the opinion of some anonymous judges who may have their own agenda. Having a number of strangers stop by to check out your ride is far more satisfying than receiving model #2466-C in genuine woodgrained plastic from the local trophy shop.
