Can anyone tell me why my MY 50 FORD thread was locked and what do the eyegl***es next to the lock mean?

It seem that all of my threads no matter what category they are in have the eyegl***es. ????

The eyegl***es mean you're following or have posted on the thread. Leing locked is up to moderators. Maybe it has some non-traditional parts showing in the pics? Killer car, though. Clean!

It would be nice if whoever is doing the locking would tell the reason. Would be helpful. Doesn't look like a lot of threads get locked. Must have been a doozy. I have been on HAMB for over 7 years and this the first lock.

    Hello,
Threads have been locked or eliminated for something like 16-17" wheels. Or, one little tiny photo of independent suspension on a roadster/coupe, etc. In looking at your photos, you have disc brakes, new independent front suspension to name a couple. I would imagine that if those were resubmitted as car photos only, engine installation, or continuing car building photos only, then it might get back on the HAMB list of topics.

The Ford looks to be well done, but those do not go along with the "traditional" HAMB rules. Show the build, keep the non traditional stuff out of the photos. (like the coffee cup holders in a stock 50 Ford interior.) Your photo composition skills may be the saving grace for future posts of your car.
    This is just an observation.

If I was to hazard a guess it's probably because you posted pictures of the fancy IFS and other billet goodies on the engine.

You should know the rules well enough by now.

7 years and it's your first locked thread, your doing something right, I've been here 17 years and I have had more than you fingers and toes locked or deleted, posting something off topic will result in a thread being locked.

I looked at your photo's and it's a beautiful car but when you posted the independent front suspension and the engine with all the billet pulleys you touched on things that are considered off topic, had you omitted them the thread would have probably still been open. HRP

  10. Welcome to the club. ;)
I had a post deleted once just because the mod thought I wasn't sufficiently in awe of the subject car of the thread he had started. I giggled when I should have bowed low. Even though I didn't break any rules, I was found wanting. :(
But moderators are a necessary evil on this traditional forum. They are the gatekeepers and judges of the breed. Without them, this forum would be a watered-down mess. I'm surprised that you've been here for 7 years and you're unaware of the core values and intent of this forum. I'm sure, outside the context of this forum, most of us, including the moderators, would admire and appreciate your '50 Ford build. A lot of us own something non-HAMB-friendly but we keep it off the HAMB radar.

Thanks guys for the help. My 50 is well built, safe and presentable. No apologies here, but I understand. All my cars were built to improve on the original concept. As we all know the cars of the 30's, 40's and some 50's were not built for today's culture. Unless they get restored the majority of today's builds are put together to improve on the past. Call them Street Rods or whatever handle you want to put on it. Don't get me wrong but I would love to go back to the 50's and drive those period beauties as well as the modified 40s cars. But I'm stuck in the present and the present has technology that makes builds safer, use modern paint systems, comfortable and as fast as you want to be. I understand traditional. I go through the posts in all the categories and find a lot of modern updates to the cars posted and find them totally acceptable for today. Air bags, tinted gl***, SBC and BBC engines, fancy wiring, killer sounds, modern tires, modern paint etc. all of which were unavailable during traditional times, are the choice of the builder/owner and in my mind are nice to haves. Yea I get it, build to look like a traditional build on the surface and only show what supports that while the ch***is and engine are more modern. Well I am proud of my work and encourage all to build cars that are safe and comfortable whether it's traditional or not. Thanks to all for your comments and Blue One, I plan on keeping the cup holders and FANCY IFS. Moving on!

Maybe because you posted under Custom cars but the only 'custom' detail is the louvers

I get it. Someones got to keep the show on track. Probably a lot of subjectivity going on. Time for a beer.

Yes you need to skip the off topic, both in pictures and in print and show everything else.
Suprising enough I talked about making off topic look traditional and that was ok....

No one said that you couldn't keep them, just that you shouldn't show them off here and expect that it will be ok.

I posted a video from the Ontario, CA. Route 66 Cruise. It was deleted because it showed muscle cars with traditional builds.
The Mods sent a notice telling me why.

    1) All you have to do is read the rules. Projects is not a forum of it's own, it's a category and as such the same general forum rules apply.
    2) Follow the rules and stop whining :D:p:D

Ya just gotta roll with the punches and move on even if it frosts your ***. I've had pictures deleted because paint jobs were off topic, I've had posts deleted for who knows why, and I've had a thread on a pretty famous late 60's magazine drag truck deleted only to see a thread by one of the favored sons pop up on the same truck a day later. Who knows, this is the internet. It ain't important enough to get mad over.

That sure is a beautiful Ford you have but if I had to guess I'd say it was the billet equipped small block with modern valve covers that caused the issue. They are for sure off topic.

When my '54 F-100 got deleted I got all **** hurt because it was stock for the most part. The Mods alerted me and said it was because of the Centerline wheels. So what I did was shoot pictures that showed all sorts of angles but didn't show the wheels directly or clearly. Problem solved. Use the camera to your advantage. Give it a shot and we can enjoy your build.

I've had a small handful of (entrys) deleted that had photos that were "on the edge of legal", knew it when they went in, wasn't a deal for me when they left, never had a personal thread deleted that I recall.
I have had a couple of (very short) explainations of deletions via the "alerts", but I think it is a bit unrealistic of people to think every one will be explained.
