I am sure many of you had this dilema and fixed it, tell me what you did. I have more money that I care to think about under the hood now, and I want to keep wondering eyes out of it. What have yall done for locking the hood? I just dont want to do anything that cannot be undone down the road, should I want it back original. This is a 56 mainline

Go to the Auto-Loc website they have a kit that works well.

Auto-Loc makes good stuff. Altho I haven't used their hood kit, I do have their remote door locks and power windows in my Ranch...

I got mine out of a late model car at the junkyard, requires a bit of creative cutting and welding but it worked. I also put a trunk popper on my Cadillac that I foraged from the Pick a part.

Your local motorcycle shop has cushioned cables and locks of all kinds and lengths. Just the ticket for security...and they will prevent the hood from blowing open, a big problem on shoebox Fords through '56. And, since there's nothing done, nothing needs to be "undone down the road".

    Good luck! :)

Thanks for the tips all. I think what I am going to do, is put in pull a part hood release/cable setup. Friend of mine came by and enjoys that kind of stuff, so he has it all figured out. There will be a small lever pull mounted discreetly under the dash. Seemed like more work to me, but he loves doing all that stuff so why not.

I like that other option with the lock jeff, i know that could be fabbed to work.

Or you could have a slightly tweeked secondary latch, that prevents people from getting into it unless they know how to do it right. I guess I lucked into that one.
