Art & Inspiration Logos/ Whats the goin' rate?

I'd like to get a logo drawn up for my"shop", it's not a buisiness per say. Just something to put on the door of my P-U and maybe future use. I am wondering what the going rate is and how to go about getting something I'd like. I had the idea of asking those interested in designing something to submit the design then I could pick the one I like the best and pay for that one. Would this be fair or am I all wet? BTW I named my shop" The Banjos & Bones Garage"

 

People who do this for a living do it for.. well you know. Takes a lot of time and effort. What you're asking for is kinda like getting 5 shops to build you a car and paying for the one you like. But hey, someone might give it a whirl for you, if not a pro.

 

The shop i used to work at currently charges $8per foot per color...if your talking about vinyl.

 

For design work, I charge $150 up front, then $45 an hour for changes after that. But I have seen people pay up to $5000 for a simple logo. I also go through and make compatible versions for almost ALL types of media.
