Im putting a 700r in my 60 chevy with a bench seat. Looking to use a 16" bench seat shifter Lokar offers. Looks kinda like a 4speed shifter? they offer floor mount , trans mount or cable opperated. I like the cable idea so im not cutting a hole in my trans tunnel. Also car already has new carpet. Anyone ever used one. Pros/ Cons. Thanks

You still have to cut a hole in the floor.

i have fitted a 700r4 to my 38 chevy with sbc .i havnt finished fitting the shifter yet.i didnt go for the cable shifter because it seemed to sit too high above the transmission.i opted for a transmission mounted shifter.i wanted to avoid cutting the floor .and use the original hole in the floor.the shifter mount is adjustable back and forth.i needed the farthest forward mount.reading the fitting instructions i needed more parts.a bell crank ***embly was needed for the front mount.#S-6999.i had spoken to the lokar rep on the phone, but he never told me i may need this part, thick ****.i had to order later and pay the shipping again..anyway i have the parts i need now and should be fitting the shifter ***embly shortly.i didnt have to cut the floor at all.i used#XATS6700BB,BLACK AUTO TRANS SHIFTER 700r-4 16 inch black mush.i kept the original bench seat base.didnt cut the floor didnt cut the firewall. yahoo way to go
