My install of a 5.0 with an AOD into my '53 is coming along great. I've received a lot of help along the way and I'm asking for some advice. I'm looking into purchasing the lokar trans shifter and I see they have a couple of different mount locations. One is on the trans itself and the other mounts to your floor. Other than having a larger hole in your floor is there one better than the other? I've tried to upload some pictures of my build but it will not work, I think the pictures are too big.

I have the trans mount version of this shifter on my AOD. It works well and has a nice feel when correctly adjusted (which takes time to do properly). You are correct with regards to a fairly large opening in the floor to accept it. Also the right hand side front mount bracket is quite bulky. I have used Gennie in the past and rate the lokar just as good if not better. I personally prefer a rigid shifter (cables are for bikes in my opinion!).:D

You could do what I did and find a stock automatic steering column for your car, then join the AOD and the column with a fabricated linkage (I made mine from a piece of all-thread).

That way you don't have to cut a hole in your floor.

Stig I can't get the pictures from my computer to upload into my album. One of the guys at work said they should be able to help. Thanks to everyone for all their help.

There is not a lot of room with the AOD in the tunnel for brackets etc. so your best bet would be the floor mount.I used a B&M QuickSilver which is floor mount no cutting needed.
