Ok, Recently got a 57' F100, with what looks like a FE 352....until I pull the motor soon.. (you cant REALLY know if its a 352, 390, etc. Gotta Measure the stroke) Anyway, I believe it has a c6 tranny. It has a nasty 5 inch looking floor shifter. I at least wanna have the appearance & comfort, until Im able to add that 3rd pedal/ Top Loader. SO IN THE MEANTIME...LOKAR OR GENIE? OPPINION, or FACT...help me out! Thanx fellas.

I have installed both in AD trucks. I run a Lokar in mine. I like the gated shifter in the genie, especially for the flamethrowers. I also like that you can put any knob on the genie that you want to.

I have both. I like both, but you can't change the shift knob on the Lokar shifter with out their adapter wich adds hight to the shifter. Lokar does have their own knobs a skull and a piston so your options are limited.

I know one or maybe both have a "lockout" nuetral button?? Kinda lost on that. Does ity mean it will NOT shift unless this button is pressed...to get OUT of nuetral, or every gear etc? Have a 5 yr old son who will bone out if given the chance...LOL

  5. Gennie vs Lokar has been debated on here many times , the conclusion always is that they are both good. i have installed/used both with good results. the differences has already been pointed out...so it is just your personal preference. i prefer the Gennie

The Lokar shifter has a center button that has to be pressed to be moved out of park and in to any gears. Both have a neutral safety switch that only allows you to re-start your car in park. the Gennie shifter has a gated shifter much like the one on a colum shift pull over and back to get out of park.

  8. Lokar has a button that you have to press to move the shifter , Gennie has a gate that you move the lever to the side to shift...like a column automatic shifter , except on the floor. does that make sense?

On the Gennie you have a "gated" shift pattern. No buttons to push. Just move it left to right kinda like a standard. It does lock into park nicely. Have to move the lever to the right then pull back to go into reverse. Can run any knob you want, thats a plus in my opinion. With the lokar you gotta push the button down like a newer car to get it to shift, and your knob selection is limited. although I think Gennie is making an adaptor now for the Lokar to run any knob you want but im not sure about that.

For sure....well If there's more options with the genie (knob wise) sounds better. Thanx fellas.

Lokar does make an adapter for the shifter that allows you to use any knob you choose but it is an extra $30 at speedway.
