mine are getting better adjusted; either they figure it's better than my fabbing up the stuff Uncle Sam taught me to build, or i'm better security than the local cops..... my left hand neighbor, he's probably around 80 or so and he used to have a neat Comet hardtop, he will come over to see what my latest project is; the teachers on the other side seem to spend all their time away from home. when they are here, the Dad spends all weekend having his little girls rake the yard, line up rocks, whatever, yells all the time. could be a lot worse.

I am surrounded by the best neighbors you can find!

If I am busy working on my old 40, or just can't seem to get the yard mowed, they may do it for me! Of course I return the favor when they are out of town, or their mower is broke down, or their grass also gets a little long. ( Our properties are 2-3 acres each). The mowing is done out of neighbors caring for each other, not out of anger.

Best laugh I have had in a long time was when one neighbor and I went to cut up a third neighbors tree that had blown down. We fire up our chain saws and the third neighbor comes out saying "Guys, I appreciate the work, but if the wife hears you she will make me take back the new chainsaw I just bought!

Friendly interested people usually don't bother me.

Offer them a beer, then remember that you are out, ask them to go to the store and get some because you are too busy. If they do, let them stay. If they don't you prolly won't see them again.

Iv got a friend that’s got that problem solved.
Whenever you’ve been standing around wasting to much of his time. He starts grinding in your direction.
Works real good, I try it from time to time at work.

This takes the cake. She bites?! That's hysterical. If an older/wiser dude came over and wanted to chat, I wouldn't gripe. I respect my elders. The guys that irritate me are the ones that always have some story about 'the glory days' and then you look over and their garage is filled with junk. And as for all of us getting older and slowing down... well I know the guy that is helping my dad out with his '28 Pontiac is in his 70's. As for me... they're gonna have to pry the welder/steering wheel out of my dead hands.:D

I had a neighbor that I always did free repairs for built and GAVE him a garden trailer when he got his new lawn tractor. When his plow truck broke down I welded it up several times again free.when the old wreck of a truck finallyt died he comes over and asks me if I'll haul it out of his yard "you can have it plow and all"so I go over and drag it home figure I''ll cut the truck up and sell off the 9 foot Fisher plow and gear.3 days later a cop and code enforcement officer are at my door !They got an "annonamus tip"I was running an illegal auto repair operation and scrap operation creating a "Public health and Safety hazzard!while in the code inspectors office I happen to notice some pics half hidden on his desk I got a real good look at the old plow truck in my yard!want to guess what angle all the pics came from ?Thats right the guy I had been doing all this free shit for well his wife anyway she turned me in!I got everything dismissed BUT I let a few cars that were exempt from zoning go to appease the powers that be and I gave the cop AND zoning enforcement guy a list of every job I did for the neighbor and made him question him in front of me about them so he had to tell the truth!
"did Mr Renaud weld your plow"
    Yes
    'what did he charge you
    nothing
he never asked you for any form of payment
    No
It went this way for 1/2 hour
the justice ?6 months later they got divorced and lost everything!

I'm lucky. I have almost an acre in the city limits, and my garage does not face the street, so I do not get too many interuptions. It's an eclectic neighborhood where the new developments swallowed the old giving an interesting mix of people.

To the West: Four houses down got a guy with a '69 Firebird, two houses down a guy with a restored 69 Roadrunner, A young attorney that has a friend with a restored '69 Chevelle.
To the East. A scrapper/recycler, A Doctor, A Harley Rider, A hot rodder with a 31 Ford coupe, A hot rodder with a '34 Ford coupe and a '37 Chev coupe.
To the South two neighbors, one cool young couple, and the other family I welded up their kid's go-cart and their dad likes lowriders...
To the North One Harley rider.

my neighbor came over when I was out there and talked about some floor jack he had and asked if I knew anyone that might have wanted it. I said sure so I look across the alley and see this 4 ft long antique floor jack. I said sure let me know what you want.

Well a week later I decide i'll take it from him, my other jack broke so I could use it, I see him outside and he stops me, says "well my wife saw one on ebay very similar going for $400 so Im thinking around that for it."

WHAT??????? I just drove off. F THAT. what an idiot.

I had a neighbor on the City Council years back, rezone the whole street to get rid of me. Ha! I was inbetween shops, had 35 cars in my fenced (to Comply) backyard. 5 GTOs, 5 A Models, etc.,etc. I not only moved the cars, I filed for Divorce too. The Wife was no different.<p> Finally rented a shop surrounded by Gangs and urban decay. I'm an upstanding "Enforcement" friendly citizen now!<p>Thanks to The Real Housewives of Hall Co. GA.

I dont have any problems with my neighbors. Didnt have any problems with my previous neighbors before I moved to my current home. Maybe because I help them lift things, fix things, give free automotive advise (whatever thats worth), kill snakes, etc. I respect them therefore they respect me I suppose. Works out pretty well.

I have a "talker" across the street but he's let me use his garage to work on stuff when mine was full so I don't mind and the lowlifes next door are moving out, just hope I don't get something worse!

I had a pair of HS age JW girls show up at my door Thanksgiving morning 1981, I had been out all night and came to the door with my shoulder length hair uncombed, unshaven and wearing a Black Sabbath concert jersey just a "little" hung over. I didn't think I looked THAT bad but their eyes got the size of 17" Moon discs and they spun around like Linda Blair's head and hit the steps running. Guess I'm just not a morning person........

  16. For a long time I was the only guy on my road, as people moved in and saw what I was doing they caught the disease and have car projects of their own, looks like gasoline ally here. :D

I've always wanted to ask a JW. "After I kick your ass would you just pray for me or call the cops?"

I have had the best of luck with neighbors. I had a family of car people that lived across the street from my old house. They are very good people. Always willing to help. The only problem was they were/are a bad influence. They liked it when I did burn outs and such. The one true neighbor I have now is a real car guy. I think he likes my open header roadster more than I do. He is currently restoring his 56 Nomad that he has had since the mid 60&#8217;s. I can not wait until his car is done and we can go cruising. I feel very fortunate to have such good neighbors.

I had the same thing. Old army mechanic that had lost his wife. But I lived in a part of town where we had our garage doors open anytime the weather was nice enough. He's come over and look at my truck, I'd go over with a few beer and sit in his garage... now we moved and I live beside a race car driver and welder, who has a race car driving son and race car driving friends - best neighbour I ever had.

  21. i think the old fuck that lives next to me is some kind of faggot because he likes to stand and glare at me. he probably does that because his wife is so ugly she makes me look cute! getting ready to put up fences and drop another 40' sea-land container to help block his view.

A friend of mine John was grinding on a bracket he had just cut when the annoying neighbor shows up and starts his usual. So John angles the grinder so it shoots sparks on the guy who moves and John changes the angle to hit him with sparks wherever he moves to. The guy never does catch on but finally leaves because it to noisy to talk. John ruined the bracket but said it was worth it.:D

the gent who live's across from me is 82, his wife is 81, and their severally mentally disabled daughter is 58. he spent 49 years in the motor trade and like to keep his hand in, as it were. On more than one occasion when i've been struggling with something, he has piped up with "have you tried...." and it's been spot on. he chatters on for hours , complains about my smoking (which is fair enough i suppose!), and passes spanners when i am upside down behind the steering column. If he wants a couple of blokey minutes every now and again, it's not my place to deny them to him.

Bad neighbor across the street. Lady is always talking shit to me when I start up my rods. Even called the cops once and told them "a old black car is driving recklessly through the neighborhood." Crazy thing when the cop gets there I said you can feel my motor it's not even warm. I didn't drive that whole day. Bitch...

  25. There are a pair of young female Jehova,s that stop people on the street and nag/harass/talk religion. If they ever come door to door I,m going to ask if they would like to have a threesome...I,ll either be pleasantly surprised or I,ll never see them again!

  26. Believe me, I feel your pain if you have bad neighbors. Been there, had that! Had some real lo-lifers next to us, thought their kids and pitbulls ruled the neighborhood. Ended up in court with 'em after one of their pits jumped the privacy fence while it was tied up on a too short to make it to the ground chain and hung itself - it hung there for nearly 2 days before they removed it. He seemed to be a magnet for cars that didn't run - y'know, worn out celicas, chevettes, aspires - AKA thro-away junkers. We moved 3 years ago from city out in the country, and checking out the neighborhood - AND the people who lived in it - was included in our new home search. We ended up with great neighbors in a great neighborhood. The guy "next door" (well not really, he has 5 acres, we have 2 1/2..) is a retired GM guy and at 80 years old is almost like a dad to us. He comes over, talks a few minutes then apologizes for "wasting your time". He's got a couple nice cars in his barn including a to-die-for original '65 Bonneville with 58Kmiles and some other OT pieces. He can talk cars or just shoot the bull, and is a real pleasure to talk to. We learned our lesson from our old house and the "neighbors from Hell". We will NEVER again move without checking the neighborhood, including who lives there.

My neighbors grand kid comes over every time he visits. He bugs the crap out of me with his million questions about what and why I am doing that.I have finally realized that as he is getting older he likes Hot Rods because of me.He now has a small brother that comes around with him and he enplanes to him all the stuff I told him over the years. FUTURE HOT RODDERS! We were those annoying kids once! So have a little patience.

Back in Pgh, had the police pull up years ago in the drive way. He said WE GOT YOU THIS TIME, Had a dog in the back seat, said he been warning us about our dog, and this time its gona cost me. I said for what. He said for letting your dog run loose. I said AIN'T my dog, wana see my dog, follow me. Went through the gate to the back yard and Old Chicko was suning him self quiet as mouse. We got a good laugh out of that one. Cop said WELL WHOSE DOG IS THIS ONE. Couldn't answer that one. Son lived across the street and Old Chicko would wonder back and forth, but never roam the streets, but My son and I both did Hot Rods, so one of the neighbors had it in for us. LOL Iceman

Your neighbors are the ones that are lucky! For you to have the interest to know as much about their neighbors as you do. We all need neighbors like you.
