I'm gonna be 'bumping' this thread about every 10 days or so til mid-March, then I'll switch to the 3day gig.
I figured aside from those of us "in the know", the FNG's and the 'outta towners' would probably appreciate stumbling across this info.

(besides, Laura's part took a bit of work on her part and wants to make sure it's benefited from)

For some good Tex/Mexican... Polvos on S.Lamar Careful with the Margaritas. They do bite.

Also on S.Lamar is Freddies. Good all around "American Fare" dogs are welcome and can order food as well. Washer pits for a little friendly compe***ion and decent beer selection.

I've never waited that long for a slice. Pull up anytime before dinnertime Friday and Saturday and walk right up and get one. Friday and Saturday you have to wait till after 9 or 10pm to get a slice though. OR, order a whole pie and walk it directly across the street and sit on the knee high brick wall and eat it while watching the action on Congress. Wouldn't matter how long it took to get a piece or whole pie, the RoundUp wouldn't be the Roundup without a piece of Homeslice pizza and Amy's ice cream.:D

I second this. It's a weekend ritual for me. It's only a few blocks over from south Congress and arguably the best breakfast tacos on earth.
Must have a green chili pork and a trailer park served trashy.

    Fak...i'm going there now.

I chose 1pm Texas time for all you guys across the pond to bump this thread. Since you guys are at least 6hrs ahead of me, figured most of yall would be home from work and logged on now before heading out to any pubs.

For a damn fine burger and killer shakes you have to go to Sandy's on Barton Springs Rd. Good food, cheap, and greasy!! The pineapple milk shake is amazing. Its a great place to get a burger how you want it and not pay a fortune,

Matt's El Rancho on S. Lamar is pretty damn good tex-mex. May I suggest the smoked chicken enchiladas. It is a must for our gang when in Austin for the RU.

If I might take a little poetic license with an old Tanya Tucker song::::

When I die, I may not goooooooooooo to heaven......
I don't know if they let H.A.M.B.ers in
If they don't, just let me goooooooooooo to Texas.....
Cause Texas is close as I've been

Thank you, Thank you very much!

    As far as food goes

Brunch: at Trudys north is a favorite at my house.

BBQ: wise Lockhart is always good and Muellers in Taylor is one I really like.

    Wings: Pluckers is pretty good

The beuatiful thing about living here is you never have to settle for a national food chain if you don't want to.

As far as keeping the wife happy there's an outlet mall in Roun d Rock and south in San Marcos. I've got a buddy coming in for the round up and the wives are goin shoppin while we go cruisin, on Friday.

I figured it might be of some help to NOT bump this at 01:00am in the morning!
So, here is a moderate nightly bump...
OH, there are some ADDITIONS! And places to buy Cowboy Boots for the people that want to go back home and say, "These boots are from Texas".

    Enjoy!
