Lone Star Round-Up or bust.........Again

If you've got all the parts, I say we get that bitch fired up on Tuesday night. It's always good to set goals, right?

I'm going to be dropping in a little late. Got to go get my eyes worked on at around 6 pm over by Whiterock Lake area.

 

I'll be out there Tues. I'll bring a 55 gal. drum of starting fluid and a tiki torch and we'll get it fired up.

 

Oh...... i cant wait!.......... the beers are in the frige!!!!!!!!

 

Three shots from Tuesday, Feb 17th, 2004. Worked on putting in an entirely new wiring harness. Also spent a lot of time scratching our heads on how to make headers clear the steering box on the drivers side. If anyone has some junk SBC stock REAR DUMP style headers, I'm positive Mark could use 'em!

Thanks, but we figured out the manifold situation.

She also lit for the first time last night at around 1:00am.
No radiator, alternator, fuel, etc. Just a beer can full
of gas and a battery from someones truck.

We just might make it.

Damn you guys went hard core last night! I'll hopefully get out there on the next Tuesday and if all goes well I'll be able to bring the 57! (crossing fingers)
Did the wiring get done?

 

The wiring is all in the car. We tried for about an hour cranking the car to get it to fire. We finally found out that when the ignition switch in just clicked to on, we have power to the coil, and the points fire, but when you turn the key to engage the starter, power to the coil is cut, and the points don't fire while the motor is turning over. Temporary solution was to put a jumper wire directly to the coil, so that we could crank the motor, and the coil would have power to spark.

This is when the BALLS OF FIRE began. Damn, that starter fluid makes for a great light show. I took some small video clips with my still camera, but don't know of a place to host them. Here are some stills from the video.

Now he's spraying starter fluid down the throat as Flt-Blk cranks the motor over, and WOOSH! We have lift off!!!

 

Maybe you can print out the pictures and make a flip book of the action!!

There is supposed to be a wire from the starter solenoid to the + side of the coil. That was missing and that is why there was no spark when cranking.

I'll take the heat for not making that circuit when we wired the coil. Doh!! :{

Now..... It's a known fact that us Texas THEM! keep on hand at ALL times, some pretty powerful 'shine. But you can't just go around drinking it out of a jelly jar in public, so, MarkX breaks out his stash and fills up a Cooooorrs light can and pours it down the carb.....
