Ok.... I got a question for y'all..actually, a couple questions.... Now I realize I might have to wait til after the Roadster show to get everyone's input, But I wanna know from the Hamb, and this for a fairly important project mind you, but I need to know what three or four cars you think of when you think of the Roundup. Maybe it's a certain car that's been to all of the Roundups, maybe it's a group or club that is always there. maybe it's a car From Austin, maybe it's a car that made it's debut at the show....... I don't know..... what do you guys think?. If you can post a pic with a story, that'd be really cool.....
question number two........aside from the cars, what else do you think of when you think about the Austin show? I think about talking to twenty people without moving five feet in front of the Continental Club. I think about the food, the restaurants and places to see every time I hit the city limits. y'all got any ideas or pictures of that kind of thing?......I know what I think and the ideas I have, I'd like to see what the HAMB thinks...... thanks in advance kids.......Dennis

Wertheimer's caddy. Dr dan's 55. And. A bunch of pro street whips with heartbeat graphics applied with the old dry brush technique. Killer show. I missed it last year... and it won't happen again.

Never been there, but I can't think of Texas without a B*** Built car coming to mind.

I gotta say your Chevy was it for me, I've always loved that car and if I ever had the money I would go after that car. I loved it when it was un-chopped, but when you chopped it, man that was it..
Also I thought I heard that car was on the GW bridge in NY on September 11th when the towers were hit, is this true?

  10. Magnolia cafe, is all I'm thinking about :)
Also, Juan from Deadend breaking Wertheimers little table at the upstairs gallery, last year :) (inside joke)
Carwise: Mark Ford's bare metal A coupe, Bob Bleeds roadster and Steve Wertheimers 36, come to mind.

So many cool cars come to mind for me, would be hard to single out a couple, but seems like Reggie is always in something that takes my breath away. The music, the food, the people, and most of all The Austin Speed Shop are the things that I immediatly think of when I hear Lonestar Roundup. Gary

    My memories of LSR;

Parking in front or the north side of the Continental club. Cruizin south Congress. First
year that I was there Ron ****'s flamed Mercury was parked right in front of the Continental
Club, Steve’s 36 Roadster, Lee Pratts 50 Ford, Nadine. It seems like you have to have
multiple Carbs on your Hot Rod. The Bands, (especially the Paladins) it was the LSR that
introduced me to this band and Dave Gonzales one of my all time favorite guitar players.
I’ve been buying all of the old cds that I can find. The Hula Hut, Kool vendors & artist &
    don't forget cl***y women.

    Happy Trails, Mick

As someone who lives in Austin, I might have a little different perspective. Of course, I love to see Jimmy Vaughan's cars, Steve's cars, and the 'invited guests' on the hill every year - I also love the chance to maybe see one of Billy Gibbons' cars.

The music at the show, and at the club and across the street at Jo's, and even at *** is very special, too. The special guests that Steve et.al. have had at the show, from James Burton to Jimmy Vaughan's band, to the Blasters, Redd Volkaert, Bill Kirchen, and Junior Brown - the players and the music make the Roundup much more than just a car show.

And finally, I've been able to watch my town host a great event, that grows every year, and has become a really wonderful, and very successful, probably international car show. I wait every year to see how it's gonna get better.

Here are mine but I have only been there once. These couple cars were enough to want to go back.

Probably my favorite custom of all time and when I seen it....well let's just say I couldn't believe it.

Seen Silva's old coupe pulling onto congress at the same time I was after some really great mexican food. Loved this damn car...

In terms of food, music and such. I remember the food being really good but vowing never to hit homeslice pizza ever again after a 1.5 hour wait and it being so so pizza. THe mexican place not far from the Continental was just awesome and I would eat every day there if I ever get back. Just the vibe on the streets is worth going. That city is alive.

Well Dennis, you're probably looking for cars and locations etc. But...
To me the central theme that separates the round up from other events is the "vibe". Hard to put a finger on, but everybody attending REALLY wants it to be a great time for all. The K's have probably had some issues, but I have never seen any bad actors or self-important bull **** go down. Just the live and let live Austin at***ude - yeah, it's Austin man, fifty years in the making!

Oh, and I just love to see the fine ladies in their vintage threads strolling the grounds!

IMO one of the best shows in the WORLD, at least in the USA and Canada. Some of my favourite pics on my last trip down south.

I've never been so this perspective is from the outside looking in. When I think of LSR theres a few cars that quickly come to mind. The car above is one of them. Also the A.S.S. 55 comes to mind immediately. B***'s coupe, and Nadine too. Love seeing pics of this event, especially the night shots down on S. Congress. Would love to make it out there some day.

For me the car I generally see and want to see the most is D.W.'s Coupe. That car has popped up at me so many times since I've started getting involved here and in my on projects, that it's an Austin (and thereby, LSR) icon to me.

And I guess that the LSR experience for me, is seeing all the faces that I read about right here, and being too timid to go up and say hello without worrying about getting pushed away by the face.

Some of my favorite memories. First thing that comes to mind is Reggies BBQ. Man its hard to find BBQ like that in Missouri plus he's a supper nice guy. Now that my mouth is done watering you ought to see his stable of cars. It should be illegal for one guy to have so many neat cars. Next has got to be the Garage crawl. It's neat to see different guy's garages or local hot rod shops.Next has got to be the music thanks to Steve Werthiemer. Two years ago it was pouring down rain and we were walking around and all of a sudden I heard this guy start playing. I said to my buddy, man that sounds like Jimmie Vaughn. Walked a little further and told my buddy I got to go check this guy out. Sure nuff it was the man. Mister JV himself. Next it should be Congress Ave. What a neat cruising street. Everybodys out and havin fun. You see everything from the neat show cars to some you might not feel safe in driving across the street but everyone is having fun. Reminds me of the mid 70's to late 80's. (Ya I'm old) The whole Kontinental club knocks their self out to make sure everyone has a good time. I'll be there this year and next and next and next and so on. Like they say KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD.
