If you are looking for a car it can be good, but sometimes prices are HIGH! The swap meet used to be awsome, alot of old speed equipment, parts from other guys garages, but it seems lately it has turned into a cheap chrome gadget meet.I still go occasionally, hoping more cool old stuff will show up!If you go,go EARLY,before 7AM as parking is tight. It's full of high prices and mostly muscle car / modern racing parts and lots of BILLET and CHROME add ons - I stopped going years ago.

It's also full of cheap screws who think they are doing you a favor--------a perspective from a long time seller

  6. I still see people that I want to see when I go. Every once in a while I'll find what I need. But, as with most of this hobby, it's all about the people.

Of course, your mileage may vary.....

I used to play football at Veteran's Stadium a some years ago...

There is less China Chrome and Tool here than at Pomona. And definitely less vintage stuff than before. But blame eBay for that - why sell at any swap meet when you get more dough for less trouble on fleabay.

But there are a lot of guys selling old junk at high prices too. I see the same sets of rusty fenders drug out there every time.

But still good stuff to be found if you are persistant. And it's all about the people. Hell, we used to drag race right there on Clark Ave alongside the golf course.

Car sellers - like Pomona too - have the Barrett-Jackson syndrome - they think every old car is a classic that is worth just like they show on TV. They are too dumb to realize that most cars don't sell or sell for much less and only the best get the high prices and are shown on TV.

Lets see sunday morning,, sit on the couch and watch football or go to a local swap?? It never conflicts with pomona wich is 10 time larger and 10 times expensive? I enjoy going to vets just to get out.

It was good for me today, I picked up a GM Accessory hand held spot light for my 51, it is near perfect! I also got some other OE GM Accessories today..this swap is always good for that!

Sorry for the necropost but I didn't feel this warranted a new thread.

About the last meet: It was pretty awesome, plenty of vendors, lots of awesome cars.

There is another Long Beach Hi Performance Swap Meet this Sunday on January 31st from 6am-1pm. Same place at the Long Beach Veterans Stadium. Scroll to the top for more details.

I scored a great old manual crank jack hammer there for $20. Super cool. I drilled a hole right in the parking lot there the size of a 1/2 inch bolt while everyone around gathered and tried to buy it from me. Still have it. Really fun.

Long beach swap rules! I've pulled some treasures out of veterans stadium. Even when i don't find anything it's a great excuse to wake up early, drive my hot rod, get a little exercise and go home and pick up the girlfriend to go get some bloody marys. Bitchin sunday in my book.

That's exactly what i have been looking for and never found it for sale. I did however find a mint pair on a truck in the parking lot and was able to pick them up for $20! I kept one for my R-Model replica and gave one to Don McCain ex-MBL performance manager & driver and president of Shelby Engine company
