  2. He's saying, the guys who started the shows. NOT the guys who started Customs...The Renegades combined the car clubs that were around and organized the shows. It tells all about it in the news articles that were in the Renegades scrapbook. It's a pretty good read Jeff. Trace has all the articles in that book that I posted at the Anti-donut breakfast.

  3. The names that are getting honored on the wall are customizers Bob, not guys who put shows together .

  4. OOPS! Wasn't sure what the argument was about! haha! I don't know what the process was for choosing who would be honored. I imagine many were considered. He's probably gonna add more guys each year.

  5. Well lets cut thru the bullshit, your not new to customs and I never said you were, so forget saying that. You mentioned the" guys who started it all" not some of the guys who started it.As far as my list goes .... im not putting the show on you guys are and if you look at the list and dont see any names that are missing...well maybe you are a little new to customs. Remember you said it not me. Im talkin early stuff not the later years of customs John, you are taking it wrong, im not knocking it ,im just saying there are other guys who were earlier that I wish were getting honored.

Evel has a thread around here stating that these guys are just the first of many thru the up coming years. Has alot of cool photos in that thread as well.

  8. Kinda like the Hall of Fame...I would think. Cause there's lots more guys out there to consider. Ayala brothers,Cushinberry(spelling?)Starbird,ROTH,Von Dutch,Dan Woods, and i'm sure there's more I can't think of.

will not get there till after Noon Saturday. Saturday morning going OC County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa for Cruisin' For A Cure Car Show- all proceeds go to help fight prostate cancer. but, Long Beach will be new and exciting-look there for a old unrestored home built race car called "The Meteor" from the LA area that was slightly modified to drive on the street.

Jalopy Joker- We're doing the same thing. Doing the Friday cruise at Long Beach Motorama, do Cruisin for a Cure Saturday morning then go to Long Beach about 1 ish.
When we talked with Trace at the Mooneyes show in July he was bummin that he scheduled the Motorama show the same weekend as Cruisin for a Cure. But for us it was great.

  28. Rich Pichette Was a teen cruisin those days, and saw that the love of Kustoms needed to come back, He should be honered for his his dedication and love of Kustoms. I was a member of west coast kustoms for years, Rich was a great guy.

This is going to be one that you don't want to miss! This is a car show for the truely traditional Custom car builder with cash awards and serious trophies that will undoubtably bring out some cars that haven't been seen in ages and many that haven't ever been seen on the west coast. Also, there isn't some silly points judging system where cars with custom billet wheels will beat out a traditional hubcap, like you see at the major indoor custom car shows that take place on the west coast.

Lots of time, effort and creativity has gone into puting this event together. I believe this show has the potential to trump some of the bigger custom car shows around, as from my understanding, the organizers are focusing on traditional cars rather than just letting in whatever will make them the most money. Speaking of money, the admission prices are also cheap compared to most shows today! As far as those builders being honored, I know that more builders will be added every year and if there's any concern over "incorrect historical fact" or the absence of specific builders, I would reccomend contacting the organizers, you would probably get much further doing that if you're truely concerned about accuracy and facts being correct... or if you just want to flex your custom-car-correctness-trivia muscle or complain and rant and argue then you could just continue posting here.

Either way, this is the first year for this show, I have spoken to the organizers and think they have a really unique plan and vision for the show. I don't know about yall, but it sounds pretty cool and I'm gonna give em a chance and check it out in person before I judge it. Seems silly to knock a show before it's ever even happened!

I can tell you one thing for sure, they are honoring Rich Pichette and he's a major reason I got into traditional custom cars 14 years ago when I went to my first paso robles and the fact that he is being honored is reason enough for me to go! Hope to see you all there!
