Long distance Motor Move, any help

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by **DONOTDELETE**, Dec 4, 2003.

  1. I am looking at buying a motor that is in NY and
    I'm out in Ca.

I've heard of using greyhound, but they have a weight
limit of 100lbs. I don't know the actual weight but I
think it is more than 100lbs.

I know sometimes there are hamb relays but this may
be a little too far for that.

I know some one else has had to ship a motor and trans
long distance before so if you have any advice it would
    help me out alot.

The freight price I was quoted was $1000, there is no way
that I could afford that. The motor is on a pallet and it
seems like it should be alot cheaper some how.

Does anyone know how much a yblock actually weighs. I seem
to remember some one had a link for the weight of differnt
    motors.

Any how any help will be appreciated. I don't want to buy
the motor if I can't afford to get it home.

    page 12 overnight.

I know some one has shipped a motor before.

I have a freind in twin cities,Mn if some one
could get it that far he could sit on it for
    a little while.
