When I went to Paso a few years ago I stayed at a hotel in Atascadero and down the road was a showroom with a T that looked very similar to Dannys 'leg show' I have tried to contact the owners at the time but had no luck. I have studied the pics and there are a few differnt parts on it but it could have been re built.
I have the Rod and custom ag with it on the front cover and that car is just the best T ever! funnily enough in the same issue is T called Rapid Transit and that is what mine is based on..

What ever happened to that 60 Ford Starliner built for a three part series in Rod & Custom that shared the Nov 63 cover with the Alexander Bros built 60 Pontiac.

A little off topic, but how about the Javelin and AMX Dave Puhl restyled for Rod & Custom back in the late sixties? Were they crushed like many then new project cars?

Yeah....the list has potential to get very long. However, with some of these cars listed, maybe it will refresh our memories....keeping these cars in mind when out "looking".....and maybe, just maybe, turn up a few.

How many Westergard car's are out there? Accounted for?

Man......what I would do for a Westergard custom.:)

I shutter to think of any of these car's being found by some ignorant Rat Rodder that thinks his job is half done and adds a bunch of gaudy crap to them and cuts them up so nobody will ever know what it used to be.

  13. There was a post on here maybe 6 months ago saying that someone had the Hilborn car, they just haven't shown it or taken it out, I want to say a collector on the West coast. It is a real shame if it is being hoarded, I know about everyone would want to see that car. (I'll look for that thread and repost).

Here are the links that I saw.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6317&page=1&highlight=Hilborn

I think that the Speedway museum has some long lost flat-heads. There are a couple early production ones, a Magnesium, air cooled one. It might be there. Denise (hotrodladycrusr) might have some pics from her latest trip out there. I have a pic of the air cooled one there too.

I hope all these cars get uncovered.

I think I remember Emorys Black Chevy being driven by his son's
in the mid to late 50's. They lived in Orange County at the time.
Seems like they wrecked it...don't know if it was repaired or not.
If it could hve been, Neil could do it

  15. What happened to Guy Ruchonette's '34 3-window coupe?

It was an owner-built nostalgia racer that I fell in love with while watching it at Sacto and Sears Pt. in the late 80's/early 90's. It was running a blown & Hilborn-injected 392 Hemi, P'glide tranny, home-made tube frame, 4" chop, semi-channel, bright orange paint, and a license plate that proclaimed "ID WINN".

Gray Baskerville covered it in HRM in Sep. '88 ("I'd winn, You'd lose") and again in '93 ("Baddest Street Rods of all Time"). It was advertised for sale at $75K (a bargain, IMHO, not that I could afford it) in the Nov '03 Goodguys Gazette.

    Here's a pix I found doing a google search.

I think Don Tognotti's KING T is still up here in the Seattle area. I do know that a collector in Seattle found the car in up state New York or in New York city. I can't remember the story exactly. (Ken McBride)is the collector. I think that is how his name is spelled. The car maybe restored by now or is currently being restored. He is also the same guy who had the Tognotti coupe restored a few years back and sold it at Barrett Jackson. The Tognotti coupe is part of a museum in Winnemucca NV now.

In the 1960s a chopped Cadillac-engined 51 Mercury full custom was brought to Houston. It was rarely seen on the streets but was known of by some in the car scene.
The last sighting I've heard of was by a wrecker driver who spotted the car in a garage inside the 610 Loop between the 290 split and T.C. Jester on one of the number streets while driving away from a drop-off at a nearby business. The car was backed in the garage and had blankets and boxes of stuff and bundles of newspapers stacked on and around it, but the headlamps, grille and bumper were exposed. Memories fade as to the details of the car but it has never resurfaced to my knowledge.
    Anybody?

How about the Don Carroll 49 Ford Convertible featured in the Sept. 54 Car Craft. One of my favorite shoebox's of all time.

I wonder what happened to it.

It's "lost" with the Kookie Kar right along with it. Hidden in a "private collection" could be a pile of rust that was once a car. Pics would put it to rest, but that apparently won't happen until that guy passes.
