You are not going to like this, I almost threw up when I saw it but here it is in it's new found glory.

Casper ought to be shot for destroying a beautiful historical hot rod.

The sign with the car does say that the Chassis and drive train are from Dave Puhl's Illusion.

Just read this thread for the first time, and thought that redone 35/36 3Window was odd, but the Disillusion is really bad.

jeeze... what a waste, but i dont think it would be half bad if it werent for that god-awfull paint scheme, and the fact that he changed a historical car.thats possibly the most hideous paint ive ever seen

    Joe Bailon's Miss Elegance.

I think someone found the dash and gave it back to him, but the car is gone.
He started on a clone but I don't know if he ever completed it.

As of a few years ago Earl Bruce still owned it and was driving it… saw him and the 40 at the "Blessing of the Cars" once.

Now that's a story!!! Do you know anyone who might have pictures of it while in Dave's shop or in Le Garage? I heard it was also used as a sign. Any idea if that's true? When did it go in to Le Garage? The headlights were wired for neon lights with 3 transformers on the firewall. Hmmm...

Here's what it looked like before the guy I got it from ripped it apart.

looking for color pic.s of a 1953 chevy sedan done in the late 70's maybe early 80's called "Lost Art"
it was orange over white. a very mild but nice custom.
I have an hot rod mag with some B/W pic.s but I would love to see it in color.

...and I saw him at the Throttlers' Picnic two or three years ago. Earl is the ORIGINAL OWNER of the car -- not just the custom, but the newly delivered '40 Ford!

Found an article about this car in the November '56 Car Craft -- see the thread on "Austin Bantam Hot Rods." Still dunno what became of it; wish I knew.

The stiletto was one of the best designs or that era......but I always thought it would look better without the front wheels.

The plating co delivery you show was one of three nearly identical 37,38,&40 ford four doors built by Jimmy Summers and Frank Kurtus . tops removed stretched 10 inches where back doors were removed. the big differance was the head lights These were used as push cars for track racers inthe late 30s early 40s whereabouts ?
