Hi, Just joined. I have a few projects, and hope to start building/restoring older and older vehicles with each project. Someday I want to build a tube frame coupe completely from scratch. I am really looking to get into older hotrods and I really enjoy metal work (even though I am pretty bad at it). The HAMB members here have always blown me away when it comes to talent and ability. A serious inspiration. My latest is a 67 Mustang coupe (I know, I know, everyone has one... But I really like this car). I'm fixing the small amount of rust it has. Then I plan to update the drivetrain and make a cross country trip. Plans are for to build a unique engine, lower to the ground, wheels and custom console. The previous project was an 88 Cougar that I bought from a police auction. I swapped out the auto for a 5spd, built an engine. I did all the bodywork myself in my garage including paint. I even did all the engine work in my garage. I also have an 84 VW convertible I rescued from the crusher and a couple old cl***ic Suzuki cycles. Around work I am frequently asked "So how many cars do you own now?" usually followed up by "And how many run?". They usually don't appreciate my odd taste in vehicles. So hopefully I fit in here. Is there ever any meet-ups in the South Texas area? I always go to the New Braunfels swap and see a few cars there. I'd like to run into a few guys to ask questions and seek advice. I'm also thinking about getting into circle track races that happen in Kyle, TX.
Understood. But a guy has to start somewhere. More HAMB friendly cars to come. If I don't have 9 simultaneous projects I must be loafing.
