Been following for years. Always wanted a tub with a Flat motor, for about 40 years and I'm only 52. I've had the 53 Merc engine since 1996 and just as I was going to put it up for sale... One finally appeared in my budget at the right time. So flew to Vegas, rented a pick up and towed it back to Michigan 2 weeks ago. Now the fun begins. Some on here may have dealt with or remember my Dad, Rich Willim. He wrote the V8-60 Flathead book. I wanted to do a project with him, but unfortunately he passed suddenly in 2014. Welcome from a fellow mitten man. Where ya at? Cwr looks great man. Let's see the flattie. You gonna do a build thread?
Taylor. Doubt I'll do a build thread. Just don't do much forum stuff like I did 20 years ago. No exciting Flathead pics. It's on the stand getting the valves removed, then off for hot tank and magnaflux. After that I'll get the port and relieve done using my Dad's old templates, then back out for seats, boring and offset crank grind to 4 1/8". I'm modernizing this motor. Going to Line2Line in Clarkston for piston coating, combustion chamber coating and intake & exhaust port coating. I may post pics on that just for the comments it will get.
