Hi, My name is Jim, I have been on the H.A.M.B. for a long time but mostly I've been a lurker. particularly I love the vintage photo threads. I run a custom cabinet shop and have been self employed for most of my adult life. My life revolves around Family & Work. and now a car will share some of my attention. I have not had a car for quite a while, but I finally have a project worth talking about. I recently bought a 56 Victoria. and I'm gunna need some help. It is relatively rust free, but in parts. I don't know how to research this, but I'm told by the seller that I am the 3rd owner of the car. I hope to pick it up this weekend. pics will be posted. my goal right now is to keep it close to original appearance wise and update the suspension and brakes with modern parts. disc brakes, 9 in. rear end & rack and pinion steering. and rewire the entire car. it is an automatic. that may change also. it has a 312 ci with dual exhaust. one question that keeps coming up is "What Color?" the original colors are white over red, and I wonder if it will hurt the value if I changed the red to something else? thats all for now, the rest will need to go in the regular forums.
Welcome, Jim. Sounds like a great project. I wouldn't worry too much about a color change affecting the value of your Victoria. Do a quality build-up and paint it the color that you like. Don't forget to post up some pictures along the way......................Don.
Welcome from Mass. Sounds like a cool project- as mentioned, pics are mandatory! As far as the rest goes, YOUR car, YOUR choice. Good luck with it
