I joined back in 06, spent lots of time lurking from time to time but this is my first post here. I've always had a soft spot for tri5 Chevys, but recently found myself in uncharted waters. My dad passed away and I'm now the owner of a 32 Ford 3 window. My dad had just picked it up in early Feb. of this year. He said it was going to be his last build. He wanted to take a break and travel and enjoy this one. He was a prolific Hot Rod builder in this area. Legendary even. The car guys around here called him the Rod Father. Even though I hung around his shop since I was a kid and all of the builds and cool Hot Rods that went through it, I was never bitten by the bug. Now that I have this 32, things have changed. I have been trying to figure out which direction to go with it. The car has history but it is pretty rough. It was chopped, probably back in the late 50's to early 60's. It had also been channeled, however I think that happened later. The quality of the channel job was very poor as compared to a very professional looking chop. I will start a build thread soon. To give you some history on me, I grew up hanging around my dads shop in the 60s. He had a small bodyshop where he fixed wrecked cars to pay the bills and built every manner of Hot Rod/ Street Rod over the years. I got into the collision end of it and along the way I've worked in every kind of shop from my first job in a shop that specialized in European Imports and Race Car Preparation to restoration shops to what I'm best at, Collision Repair. I'm very confident I can pull this build off, just as soon as I find my direction. I can't seem to be able to upload photos directly from my computer, so I'm doing it the old fashioned way. Maybe? Sorry for the loss of your Dad. Good luck with the build-up of the '32. Keep us posted with some pictures.
Well, it let me upload this one, but not the other one. Hopefully this problem doesn't persist. If it does, it will make a build thread more difficult than the actual build.
I'll try these from a different batch of pictures. These were taken about a month after dad picked it up. He was trying different engines out in it to see what he would have to do as far as steering crossmembers etc. The nailhead just happened to be in it when I took these pictures. When it was all said and done, he settled on a sbc because of reliability and ease of getting parts locally.
