Been away for a bit, got too busy working on other people's car and was neglecting my own ****. Now I'm trying to catch up.

I want to re-engineer the brakes on my 49 Styleline. Right now it has 54 Chevy car front brakes on it, and 70's Nova rear. I'm using the stock 49 master. It blew out both rear wheel cylinders, and the brakes never really worked right.

I want to put a dual chamber master on it, most likely a late 60's GM piece. I would actually prefer it to be on the firewall, just so everything is easier. I don't really care if it looks out of place.

Anyone have any opinion on any kits that are out there? A few places, such as Jegs sell universal firewall mount master and boosters. I don't really care if it's power, and most of the kits I see are for Disc/Disc and Disc/Drum. How about my Drum/Drum? Should I just make my own contraption?

  2. When I did my 50 Sedan. I used a 67-76 Vette NON power m/c. It is a dual chamber but has no internal RPV's so you can use it for drum/drum, drum/disc or whatever. you used what ever rpv's you need for your application. Todd

Ah I noticed most masters came with those vette masters. Maybe that's the reason?

I'm thinking the reason I blew out my wheel cylinders is because I don't have any RPV's in stalled and the car is lowered 4''?
