The "T" tub that I am in the process of reconstructing was originally built (by me) in the early '60's. It was a lot of work. It was built completely "from scratch" with a crappy square tube frame, the front half of a '20 touring car, and an early Dodge hemi (including drivetrain) and completed in 1966. It has a valid Minnesota title listing it as a "1966 Homebuilt". After a couple of years of use, the frame developed an obvious "sag" and was put into storage in 1970. It was stripped while in storage and I kept moving the hulk around all of these years. I have it in "roller" status now and have a built 258" 8BA to power it. Alas, at the age of 78, with various infirmities, I'll probably not be able to finish it. I'm trying, though. Here's the only picture I have on my current computer and it is a few years old; since it was taken I have completely changed the suspension to make it sit a lot lower. My '51 Ford club coupe and (admittedly O/T) 1967 Corvette coupe were both purchased in 1987.
We got this in 1980/81 for my then girlfriend, now wife , brought it off a bloke at Rolleston( the op will know where that is). She went straight from a Morris minor to this at 18. It was original faded red and ivory back then with a red oxide hood along with lake pipes and was a mess. Had a perfect imprint of the hood bird in the centre of the roof. 40 yrs now and can’t see it going anywhere soon.
Hot rod for 61 years now ! First got my Bobtailed 28A Roadster to run in 1959. I'm not counting near 3 years of hunting parts. Idea was to have a car for high school in 1960. Miami Sr. High Grow up Coconut Fla. By high school rod was shiny Black, seat n inside needed better ,no top. Real world showed me I need something with a top n roll up windows,$75 got me a old Henry J that ran. I did custom the "J" too. It was stolen in late 1964,"J" made Car Craft mag. in Jan of 63. I still have my 28 hot rod. It takes upkeep, but if ya saw it in the 60s,she looks the same, except I did get around to adding a folding top many years later.
