i have installed 67 mustang manual drum dual res master cylinder and need a longer push rod. based upon article sent by mr 48 chevy (hope i got that right) it appears the pushrod from single res 65 mustang works and is longer. where can i get pushrod? or is there alternative? it seems dearborn classics is only place that has a rebuild kit which includes pushrod, but i haven't called to be sure. thought i would check with the reference library first! thanx for your help. larry
wow 325w, how to describe? looks like a heim with long shaft rather than threads. it is mounted in 53 ford hanging pedal set up. mounts on firewall! amaverick, not sure what to make one from. am having senior days (coming up on 70) and just can't wrap my mind around it. have thought about taking out one i have cutting threading and make it adjustable? looking for ideas if we can't find one. thanx larry
Junkyards will sometimes have a pile of them waiting on the core buyer to come by. I've picked through them to get the one I needed. They may charge you a five dollar min. price but you can grab two or three.
This is exactly what you need. Done this before: http://www.laurelmountainmustang.com/products/1965-69-master-cylinder-push-rod-adjustable
Go look at the ACE hardware. They have clevis pins. These are U shaped and have threads in them. You might find a grade 8 bolt long enough to cut the head off and amke the adjustable rod. Look at a tri 5 chevy rod. It may work without any mods. Understand the brain hicups. I'm not far behind you.
I would not do this or recommend this. Unless you knew exactly what the clevis pin was rated for strength wise, you are risking your life and anyone in front of you. You're cobbling something that could be argued as the single most important system on any car. The brakes. I'm sure it would work, but experimenting on a common, AVAILABLE part is not something that should be advocated. Buy the right part.
Thanx to all. i had discovered the adjustable just wasn't sure if that was the way to go! as to the brain hiccups, my dad, who lived with me, used to have posted notes stuck all over and i would laugh at him. not so funny any more!
