Hello from the Motor State! I've been a hot rodder since I met my best friend at age 12 (just turned 61) and was introduced to his dad who was an original '50's car guy who had a locally well-known '53 Olds Rocket 88 mild custom back in the day, and owned a '28 A RPU hot rod since the early '60's that he just sold not long ago (he couldn't get in and out of it anymore). He was kind enough to take me along with his kid to car shows and let me hang out in the garage while he was working. I don't know where he found the patience. I currently have a '51 Merc Coupe in a million pieces with a Caddy 331 hooked to the original 3-speed OD with an NOS Offy adapter. I've also owned a '55 Chevy two door hardtop 327, 4-speed, gray primer and no interior except white GTO buckets, a '66 Riviera pretty much stock but with cut coils to get it sitting right. My hot rod brush with fame is that I was interviewed and offered an associate editor position at Rod & Custom by Pat Ganahl. I was still in college and decided to pursue my degree after Pat gave me an honest appraisal of the car mag business at the time. I've been told David Frieberger took the position. Ah, well, who needs fame and fortune?
