these are a few shots i took today of my '27 and my buddies '23. the red one is my '27 its the front half of a touring and its on a "modified" speedway frame. its got a 235 and a 3 speed. the cowl shot of my car shows how much the cowl was cut to get the motor in and still be able to use my short frame. the blue one is jimmys and its a gl*** 23 t touring. its got a 216 and a 3 speed also. if you have any questions about them, fire away.

I like the dimensions of the red one. As far as the wheelbase and ride height go. Cant say I'm a big fan of how you got the six in there though. But otherwise looks like its right on to me. But then again, I am originally from Atchison... Got any pics of the rear of the car? Thanks.

I don’t like putting anyone’s work down and I’m hoping you’re young and will learn as you build more cars, just like I learn on every build, but that some ratrod **** there.

That’s the type of rod that gives the HAMB a bad name.

It’s the type of rod that if I saw a “HAMB” or “Jalopy Journal” sticker on. I’d want to throw a rag in the gas filler and turn into a molotov ****tail.

I didn't realize you were serious when you posted those. I thought they were mock-ups.

What happens when the engine runs in the red one--won't it beat the hell out of the sheet metal around it? Maybe it's the camera angle, but it looks like you need another half inch or so around that head/valvecover.

I can't say I hate everything about them. I like the rear wheel/tire combo on the red one...

    My opinion is that;

The Blue one looks great, but i cant help feeling that the rear would be lower, when it had a driver or p***enger.

Hence i reckon that, raising the rear would helpp it greatly.Hope that is the sort of ideas or criticism you want.

The Red one however, needs a bit more thought into the engine positioning.

Bit more clearance would be a bonus.

At the end of the day they aint mine, so i dont have to drive them.

    Definitely look wachy though.

As long as you dont get a tug by the old bill, you will be fine.

Trouble is when cars do look so different, they do stand out.

Suzys little truck came up in conversation the other day between 2 guys one of them said i should be arrested for driving it. Its quite tame conpaired to some.

Good luck with your project i hope you get it to a nice driveable condition.

    Cheers Roland

look if some of you guys dont like it then dont come on MY thread and make fun of MY ****. the red one has never been driven, and i still need to trim more. also do any of you have a good reason i shouldnt mount MY engine so far back in MY car? the the blue one is not a tail dragger its just the way the yard makes it look.

EDIT: i expect some criticism, and that is fine i like hearing what others think, but dont come on here and tell me its a pile of ****.

    Great stance on that truck.

  23. Actually I'm a big fan of engine setback. I personally am not a big fan of inline 6s.

When I first moved back this way from wherever I had a young friend, well we were both young but he was younger, he was an alcoholic and always drove junkers. He always had a good time doing it. I guess the operative phrase here is he always had a good time.

Anyway what I'm saying is that at this point it doesn't matter if I'm impressed with your little junk rod or not. If you're haveing a good time I'm good with that.

As my now deceased friend would have said, "all you lack is just a finishin' up."

Make it roadworthy and have fun.

Oh and don't get testy you're the one who posted it.;)

scarylarry why do you say its "scab together" the red car isnt even done yet. nothing is painted, there is no radiator or shell. how can you judge it like that when its only half done?

I kinda like the idea of cutting into the cowl to get the mill to fit...it rocks the boat with people...but here's a bit of advice...Keep the peice that you cut out. If you ever want to change it you'll be glad you did. The Model A 2 door sedan I'm working on right now has two big slots cut out of the sides of the cowl...my ex girlfriend's father cut those out for the small block headers because he had the mill set back too far...he threw those peices out, and now that I'm trying to patch them, I get the urge about every 5 minutes to drive back up to his house and smash him in the face with a shovel.
Give yourself some more clearance around the mill, box it all in, and you'll be doing alot better. As far as the harrasment, you're a new guy, this is the HAMB, people here will give it to you straight, so get used to it or go jump on the Old Skool Rods board...I felt they were lettin you off pretty easy compared to some of the razzing I've seen on here
