Some fabric from the upholstery shop and some hardboard. I'm pleased with the look and sound.

No idea what the fabric is. I walked around the fabric shop checking all the green fabric. Then I played music on my phone and placed it behind the fabric until I found one that blocked the least amount of sound but was still thick enough to hide the speakers.

I'm thinking of doing something similar to my Chrysler. I was going to use speaker grille cloth though. Grille cloth is more "transparent" to sound.

That looks good and doesn't advertise the fact you have a decent sound system in the car.

Jake, I'm using the "Ryan" method with an iPhone, remote volume, amp in the trunk and front door speakers.

I'll post the front door speakers when I make the door panels that will conceal them.

This is my stereo! (just plug in my iPhone or an iPod)

To the left of my seat adjuster is my volume control.

And in the trunk in the power amp. (five channel)

Good idea. The next time I get to do speakers I think I'll try this but use some vintage amp cloth, like VOX. Gary

Great job Carl. :) I'm using the same amp you have. I found that amp real cheap so I figured I would purchase two sets of 6-1/2" also. What started out as a simple install with an old amp I had laying around snowballed into a full system and interior redo. New door panels and rear panels also. I installed 2 MB quart 6-1/2" along with 2 6" Altec Lansing</ST1:p subs from an old computer sound system in the rear deck. I wrapped the rear deck I made in the factor vinyl and color. I plan to install the other 2 6-1/2's in the kick panels with custom made fibergl*** enclosures. I'm using an ipod to control the amp, thanks to Ryan for his write up. I have yet to finish. Too many other projects.

The amp is huge and heavy, I think it lowered the car another inch.

****py pics, unfinished. I'm planning to redo the deck once I get a few more tools, I did it in a hurry without the tools I really needed to do a first cl*** job. Still need to make a grill for the woofers and repaint the gl*** trim again.

That's looking great. I dig the sub port, make sure you post your progress.

    Thanks,

Great job with the hidden stereo & speakers - I like it . I like your technical method of looking at material (holding phone behind with music playing) - that must've attracted some attention at the store , lol !!

I'm about to do this on my car. It didn't kill the sound too bad without holes in the fabric?

Nope - sounds good. Granted the car is far from air tight and sound proof, and the porter mufflers kick up a nice rumble, but I'm very pleased with the outcome.

That looks great. I just happen to have some left over grill cloth laying around that would be perfect for this...thanks for the idea.
