What kind of paint, and what color blue is that. I mean does it have a name- code or a car etc. where it was used ?

Does it photograph well , does it look darker in pictures than it is ?

  12. Thanks Pumpman, Shopdawg, Hotrodmyk, HRP, and lippy.

The paint is U Tech 3.5 Single stage, it was just a color I picked from
the Sikkens Colormap, I used it before on a scale I restored, Ron liked it,
so that is what we went with.
    Kind of Washington Blue'ish

Here are a few more pics from bringing it home Sunday

  21. I drove by the house a few days ago and saw the coupe was gone. Hoped it was in for paint!

Looks great, I'm going to stop by next time the door is open.

I looked up that paint, it says single coat application. So one coat is what you do ? Is it used with a catalyst ?

How is it to spray, do you use a supplied air respirator ? Or does the low VOC mean you don't need to ?

Just curious after all the discussion around how the catylized paints can kill you.

  23. U Tech 3.5 is VOC compliant meaning it is at or below the limit of
Volatile Organic Compounds allowed in Canada to be released into the atmosphere
    It is measured in lbs/gallon
It is a catalyzed product, the ratio is 3:1
I used my charcoal respirator in this situation, the booth works very well.

The tech sheet does say it can be applied in a single coat,
that is primarily for industrial applications.
In this case I sprayed a single coat, then a double header.
And this will be getting dust nubs sanded out and polished.

In a less than adequate environment,
I would strongly recommend a supplied air mask.

Flow, you are my hero of the day.
When I found out i cant paint I had a friend who knew what he was doing standing by. We painted some of the cars in my yard as he kept getting madder and madder. Finally, he said something like "Stick to krylon and shoot my wedding for me".
I did. The wedding photos came out great, and my car still needs paint.

Easy to see where the name came from "flow". Looking good!

  28. Thanks everyone!
It is really good to see him so happy.

    czuch, thanks for the laugh!

There is the first show of the season here this weekend,
I keep mentioning he should get it together enough to drive it down, but he is sticking to his guns about not rushing it just to put it in a show.

Blue One, the color is from the Sikkens Colormap # CM476H5
