I couldn't shake it. Damn thing was tail gating me the whole way home.
Bought it off a great kid named Casey. He reminded me of my little brother.
One thing I have noticed on the truck is some markings.
They driver door...VCP 14 also on the passenger door and the back of the cab.
This thing has the original chassis under it. The grill and hood gone. The current hood is a decent 35 with medallions.
Rocker rust and the letters on the side...kinda wondering if this was a tow vehicle at Bonneville? the frame is spotless.....and it rolls!!!

Yep saved it. The owner got caught with other priorities in life and I saved it and in turn helped him out with the cash.

    Well.
Progress. I have pulled the cab with the help of a friend and some 2 x 4s. The bed I hefted that off.
So far the 35 dodge grill is fitting just right.
I have talked with a old time guru and he has set me straight on the easiest way to have this thing a roller. He even has found me a running Y block.
Look like after market disc on the stock spindles. A reverse eye single leaf up front with some gas shocks. Some hair pins to replace the bones... An 8 inch underneath the rear with a single leaf. Then tie that with some radius arms...BAM !
    Pics to follow.

Well a update on the 37 build.
I had been chatting with DELMO on his 38 chop. I decided what the hell.
Might as well do it this weekend.
So after a night at the Barona Drags; I was all fired up to get this baby done. BTW PINKS showed up for Arm Drop Drags. Quite the show in my backyard
So Saturday the temperture dropped. What a great time to work in the garage. The wife decided she needed to go visit her Mom. Time to think this thing out.

So Saturday morning. I started with a roll of masking tape, measuring tape and sharpie.
I started with the rear window. Marked out a 3 inch chop. Then wrapped that around to the front and marked off 3 inches.
SO far I have the top almost completely welded. The doors I will finish this week.

No worries:). Nothing I could n't figure out with the help of a 12 pack ;)

The Wife drove up right after i put down the sawzall. She helped me lift off the lid and lower it back on.
She even said..."Damn this thing has a tude now!"

Did you weld the A pillars yet?

    They are full of lead!!!

If I had it to do over again...Id heat em up first and remove all the lead so you will know what you are welding to.

35-36 Pickups have a flat windshield.

37 was the first Vee'd 2-piece windshield for Fords.

We will see how that pans out. Thanks for the tip.

    Update on the 37
    I have found a good y block. A 61 292.
I also rmoved the f-1 steering box and wheel from the same Y block donor.
    Also a 3 x 2 intake. A box of 94's donated by my brother.
I traded a steering wheel for a 8 inch rearend.
I hope between setting up horse corrals and work I can manage to get the top welding complete and drop the cab. Make the floor and start with the door.
My target date is the Del Mar show. I see the month of Feburary to be very busy!

  30. You should post some pics, as soon as you get you block home!!! :D
Looking forward to see how your build comes along!!

    Keep up the good work!!
